Nope, sorry.  Tali fans kind of got the shaft in ME1.  Just good friends, and she has a crush on you, but you can't do anything about it...

Although it was a blessing in disguise, since it makes the romance in ME2 a lot better.  Just ask Liara/Ash fans

Unfortunately no. 

She was my first choice for an LI when I first played ME1 though, It was sad when I found out I couldn't persue her.

Well for Tali you've worked with her before, you've fought alongside her. Shepard also proves that she can trust him with her life. Not only that, but he was a friend and did not reveal her father's research. Trust is very important in a relationship and Tali's romance is all about trust. Very romantic, IMO.

As for Hudson, I already know what he'll say. He might say something about Tali's popularity and that he thinks it's a good romance, but then will say that say Shepard has a choice between many romances.

Yeah seriously. Not only was her romance in ME2 just friggin' awesome, it really felt like a romance. One that had time to grow. 

Tali had two years to rationalize her feelings and put them into perspective. Her feelings for Shepard weren't just some silly crush.

Agreed, the diplomatic answer is that there is no canon LI.

However, you can definitely make the best case for Tali being the canon LI (how's that for a can of worms statement,) and I suspect that with a little truth serum, the higher ups would agree

Concur completely. Relationship much more developed, in own opinion. Not to say others are not, because are.
But Tali unique and beautiful love interest. That is own opinion, of course.

This. In the second conversation she's talking about being together. Basically just because she's interested in you because you know about the protheans. Wow. And if Shepard starts the romance he says "There is something between us." Uh, Shepard, like what?



With Tali, you have the precedence of friendship. That's really important. Not only that, but the very important element of trust. She asked you not to reveal her father's work and Shepard agreed. They trust one another after all they've been through, they feel secure in one another's arms. I think it's very romantic, in that regard. Plus the butterflies and sunshine thing Kasumi talks about
