Well, we don't need her to be the most popular.  I do not.  It's not comforting to see that she is down to Kasumi, but not everyone likes Tali.  Talimancers will vote for Tali and and everyone who hates Tali will vote for Kasumi...and of course so will those who like Tali but think Kasumi is cuter.  Then of course there are the jealous voters who are fans of other characters like Miranda and Jack.  

So really, that Tali has kept pace is pretty good. 

And honestly, they did make Kasumi pretty damned cool.  I don't have her but I have seen quite a bit of video of her.

You hit the major point in your post.  The polls on this forum have gotten to the point where Tali vs 2 or more people will result in a landslide victory for Tali, and Tali vs one other person becomes a war between Tali fans and the rest of the forum.  It doesn't matter if its Kasumi or Shepard or Grunt. 

That's why the poll is pretty irrelevant.  I'm just constantly amazed at how many Tali fans there are compared to everyone else.
