I still don't think its that high.  It seems like it because not many people are going to go in a hate thread and post "I'm not a Talimancer, but I think they're an ok group.  Now go back to hating."  Its just not going to happen.  For every person that speaks against us, there are plenty more that don't say anything.  There are a good amount of intelligent people on this board, I'm not going to generalize the majority who don't post anything based on a few loud idiots.

Again, you're going only off the most vocal group.  Its well know that the louder any particular group is, the less intelligent they are.  Personally, if I see a thread about something that I'm indifferent to, and there are idiots trolling it, I'm not going to specifically say I'm indifferent to it.  Even if I like it, I'd prefer to just avoid the idiocy.  I'm sure I'm not alone in that opinion.

An action like you say, posting the OP in a gaming forum, is likely to draw two types of people.  The people that love it, and the people that hate it.  You're basically discounting the people that love it, and ignoring the people that are indifferent, and taking the small percentage that hate it as a representation for them.

Basically, they made a thread about us, posting this OP as their OP. Lurkers around the site drop by and read it, and most posted hate. Why would angry people be the loudest? If someone doesn't think that about Talimancers, there's no reason they wouldn't voice their opinions in Tali's defense. Unless they're just nice people who don't want to get flamed.

If you hardly know about Mass Effect, and you read the OP, it's not hard to see how ignorant people think we're obsessed. All I can do is tell them to play the game and learn why we're here, but Mass Effect is not for everyone
