I think Raan will be supportive of Tali + Shep when she finds out.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she suspected it already.

Raan: Of course I knew, Tali'Zorah. The way you talked about him when you returned from the pilgrimage... And then your trial! He defended you with so much passion during your trial... It was obvious he cared for you as more than just a crew member.

<3

Tali: I know... He... He means alot to me... I just...

*As Tali wrings her hands nervously together, Shala places a hand on her shoulder.*

Shala: What's wrong?

*Tali hangs her head low, her voice heavy with sadness*

Tali: Do... Do you think father would have approved?

Carried over because I can and it was missed.

Shala:  Tali... your father, it might have been difficult, but seeing you this happy, what else could he do?

Tali:  Oh, Auntie!

*Tali throws her arms around Shala.  Unlike before the trial, this hug is happily returned.*

Shala:  so.... did you do the pounce?

*Tali holds her hands up in shock and embarrasment.  She glances around at the other quarians in the compartment.*

Tali:  Auntie, not so loud!

Shala: I just want to be sure! It's a tradition after all.

*Tali leans closer again, conspiriatorily lowering her voice.*

Tali:
  Of course!

Shepard:  I'm standing right here!

I'd also like to point out that I'm reading this in their voices and it makes so much better.

I could listen to Shoreh Agdashloo (or however it's spelled) read from a phone book.

The admirals (thus, Rael) sent Tali on that mission to Haestrom, in Geth Space. That's a little screwed up I think.

I'm not a dad, but I'm pretty sure if I were, I'd be pretty opposed to sending my daughter on a mission like that. Then again, I get the feeling I'd be the super overprotective type.

I still think he would approve.  Above all, he loves Tali and wants her to be happy.  He doesn't normally know how to show it, but I feel like this is the one time he wouldn't screw it up.

There's the obvious trepidation with the whole no one's good enough for daddy's little girl thing, but I don't think he would have any more hesitation with Shepard than any random quarian.  I mean, what's there to not like about Shepard?  Galactic hero, killed the most geth in the galaxy, loves Tali completely.  What more could you want?

There's really no other reason than extreme xenophobia that he would prefer an average quarian over Shep.  And xenophobia doesn't seem to be a quarian constant (outside the geth.)

There are reasons beside xenophobia:  an alien is likley to take Tali away from the Flotilla more or less permanently.  Rael's other goal is a strong Flotilla.  Then there's the grandkids issue...

Tali's gone until the reapers are dead either way, so that can't be a huge concern.  I fully intend on taking her back to Rannoch, not the flotilla, and Shepard would make that clear to Rael.

The grandkid issue isn't a big deal at all.  There isn't a big difference between having a kid and adopting one, and adopting one probably saves Tali from a big risk.  I can't imagine child birth is as safe for quarians as other races.

I would use that outfit if it wasn't white.  I hate white for some reason, I think it is good for only accents.  And Legion looks almost comical with that outfit.  Like you aren't supposed to take him seriously.  That is a bad impression to be getting from the character with the most powerful gun.

I think Legion looks good in white, I just like the dark bluish-grey better.

Something about that outfit seemed like a joke to me.  It was so different from his original colors.  He changed his lights from a neutral white to a glaring red and changed his secondary colors from accents of white and red to dark colors (if memory serves) and changed his main color from a dark blue to a bright White.  He looks too much like a punk wearing conflicting colors.  Just my impression though.

Keelah se'lai, Crane. I'm going to join you.

As much as I dislike returning to a world that is NOT filled with Tali, I need some sleep.

Keelah se'lai, everyone.

For no reason at all, I leave you with random poetry:

This Is Just To Say (Cold Plums)

"I have eaten

the plums

that were in

the icebox

and which

you were probably

saving

for breakfast

Forgive me

they were delicious

so sweet

and so cold"

The quarians are quite insular, so it might be very strange and even unwelcome for an alien to be with one of them, especially with Tali, who is renowned by her people. Also Shepard is still technically part of Cerberus, a hostile organization, not even heroes can slip past working for terrorists. And the fact that Shepard is on a high-risk mission, Tali is constantly put in danger and can even be killed.

I doubt Rael would welcome Shepard.

I would pay to watch a film, a two and a half hour film, in which she sits on a nice comfy leather couch in a nondescript room reading from the dictionary.

I see this a couple of ways:
- groomed for leadership.  While leadership isn't hereditary, Rael probably thinks his daughter can be molded into a great leader for the Flotilla.
- trust.  While Rael doesn't want her directly involved in his little secret project, he knows he can expect good results from her without her asking too many questions.
- everyone has to do their part.  It's a quarian thing.

If they knew the opposition they would face, I couldn't see him sending Tali.  I think its likely they didn't expect much resistance.

The only other choice really is that they knew it was that dangerous, but the data was that important, and they figured Tali was ok to risk.  I really can't see that one.

I typically take Legion and Garrus.  Between the two of them I have a sniper and a soldier, and if we are fighting synthetics then that team totally destroys.  Overload and AI hacking, Pure Win.  For biotics I have garrus's concussive shot and for armor I have my incinerate, Legion's Widow, and Garrus's armor piercing rounds.  That team can take anything.

I usually play Soldier or Infiltrator and I often have the squad using assault rifle, sniper rifle, and shotgun. Both of my usual classes allow me to use my two favorite squadmate, and so far, I've been quite succesful on Hardcore mode with that.

Yeah, well Rael was pretty damn lucky Shepard was around! His daughter would've been dead on Haestrom if he hadn't.

*shakes head disappointedly at Rael*

Shoreh's actually in quite a few things.  And the Shala'Raan voice is her real voice.  Kinda weird to hear Shala'Raan's voice pop out over the TV every once in a while.

She's a great actress. I recognized her voice back in Tali's trailer and did a double take.

It only matters who you have with you on hardcore while they are alive.  I played plenty of parts on my own, killing dozens of bad guys because they had advanced over my team or my team had been over aggressive and charged in and gotten themselves killed.

It really made me realize that Shepard is more than who he brings with him.  He can get the job done on his own, but having a team makes it easier.
