I've always assumed Legion's purpose was to study Shepard.  Shepard destroyed a reaper, a huge enemy for the geth.  If they can get some extra info, why not?

I doubt the geth think like Shepard is with a quarian, we're in danger.  If they were paranoid like that, they would have already killed the quarians.

The Quarians have by far the most powerful fleet in the galaxy.
Attacking the flotilla would be a big mistake, and the Geth know that.

I was referring to 300 years ago or so, before the quarians had the largest fleet in the galaxy.  The geth's feelings haven't changed since then.

Why must we always have these misunderstandings. :D

Here's how I look at it:

The geth are well aware of Tali's existance on Shepard's original crew and of his loyalty to her. It is easy to infer that Shepard would be willing to aid the quarians in retaking their homeworld. So, the geth send Legion with a false message of peace. Shepard then gathers the Admirals, convinces them to meet with the geth and then the Flotilla is destroyed.

Edit: I really hope I am wrong.

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. But it doesn't hurt to be prepared for every eventuality.

Metagaming makes me pretty sure that the geth will be good.  All indications we have so far point to peace.  We also have plenty of enemies around, including the heretics to meet the geth enemy quota.  The story doesn't need the geth turning on us.

I just don't see them turning on us, it means they would be ignoring their feelings on the reapers based on human emotions.

I suppose that makes the most sense. However, if anything is going to ignite a war with the geth, it'll be Xen and her crazy meglomaniacal vision of a quarian empire.

all it takes is for Wrex to say so. Like I stated before, he'll drag the krogans to glory whether they like it or not.

For the record, the geth are the only race that know of the reaper threat.  They may be untrustworthy, but they're not stupid.  They will help you destroy the reapers.  What do they have to gain from starting a war that will get them, and the whole galaxy killed?

mmm Im not sure if the geth are the ONLY race that knows of the reaper threat. The quarians know about and so does wrex. Whatever Wrex commands, the Krogans will follow. IMO.

I dont know how effective the Krogans would be in the upcoming battles.  Krogans lack a centralized military force and dont have any powerful ships to begin with.  As for the quarians, they will either be fighting the Geth or settling a new homeworld.  Dont know how effective they will be in those cases.  Or the Geth will just give the homeworld back and then the Quarians begin a quest of galaxy domination with their huge fleet.

How do the quarians know about the reapers?  I don't recall ever hearing anything about that.

I also wouldn't be so sure that the krogan are a done deal.  You saw opposition to Wrex by Uvenk, who says Wrex can't be betrayed, or have his clan overrun by enemies?

Uh...they lost 8 ships, and the Geth lost a lot more

The alliance lost 8.  The other races lost quite a few as well.

The Geth are a tough fight, although Sovereign may have taken a lot of those kills.

Alliance side mabye BUT remember Sovereign hung back till the gate open then charged in as they closed the geth were doing most the fighting and remember that was the HERETIC splinter group who are allot smaller then the normal geth number.

I never said it would be an easy fight, but if it comes to full scale war, because of the turians and the asari's huge losses, humanity is the only race(excluding the quarians) which could match the geth

We don't know that, Again no one TRULY knows the geth fleet size for all we know it may even Dwarf quirians  Geth Normal GETH rarely ever leave the veil your fighting an unknown all that is known is Geth weaponry is considered some of the most advanced stuff out there out side of collectors, and we don't know if geth have Dreadnaught class ships..

Again amusing the unknown is weaker case they don’t attack just as foolish as thinking they are actually peacefull.

The Asari and Turians are no pushovers either.
The Destiny Ascension was one bad-ass ship (and still is in my file...couldn't let 50,000 Asari die).
The Turians also have powerful cruisers.  A fight against the Geth would probably require a coalition, because no one race would throw everything they've got into it.

In all, is'nt what this thread strives for? Is it the reason for this womans mystery? Is the mystery the idea that gives her hidden nature?

I would love some ideas and theorys you have to offer.

God it feels weird having an intelligent discussion with you....
I wouldn't say the goal of the thread is to get Tali out of the suit, just to make sure she returns as squad/LI.
But mystery definitely does add to the wait... <_<

I definitely want to release her from the suit.  The mystery doesn't mean anything to me really, I just want her to be able to live a normal life on Rannoch B)

as nice as it would be, i cant see it happening, in the conversation on the Alerai she made it quite clear that this would require generations of gene modification to do.  so unfortunately, not going to happen.

Good theory. But injecting a virucide into almost each and every individual infected cell? Appears an impossible task!

Not with nano-scale tech...

Anyways you don't need to "cure" a virus. If you catch HIV with anti-virals before you progress to AIDS you can stop its progression at which point your immune system could fight it back to the point where you basically don't have to worry about it.

Hmm...s othe idea of "beating it down" to where our bodies can kill it on its own....
interesting... I dont know anything about Nanotech, but to construct a machine that can identify the virus from others, track it down, inject the vaccine, and not become destroid from the bodies liver could be a good idea. :)

if that were true...then the concept of a full scale Reaper armada attack would be....very troubling.

Shepard will have to pull some bad-assery and save the day.

It can't come down to a fleet vs. fleet battle unless the Reapers are seriously weakened.

perhaps the Reaper armada have some sort of Hive mind? Kill queen and they disperse?

People forget that Reapers are just ships when you get down to it. Just board it and destroy it's eezero core.

Yeah...but how is it possibe to board an entire armada of Reapers?! Jeebus crikey, I'm not sure Shepard would handle it. My theory Harbringer is the mind that controls Reapers. Kill Harbringer and the rest of the reapers deactivate or disperse in confusion?

Kinda like the overmind in starcraft

Unlikely. Sovereign pulled the same ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL crap with Saren at the Citadel. I haven't seen anything that would indicate that Harbinger is the Reaper commander.

My God... A Reaper Commander...

All it takes is for 1 quarian liveship to go down to cripple the whole Quarian species.  I dont think the Geth care about how large the fleet is.  if the Geth wanted to finish off the quarians they would have done it already.  Geth just want to be left alone

When you think about it, it's more about making sure she returns as a squadmate.  We pretty much know for a fact that she will return in Mass Effect 3 as a Love Interest, as Bioware has stated that in Mass Effect 3 you have to deal with having cheated on a Mass Effect 1 interest.  If that is so, she's already in Mass Effect 3.  Hopefully you do get to chose her as a continued LI and squadmate.  I'd be surprised if Bioware didn't get the hint that the community wants this.  I like to think that community support helped make Tali a love interest in Mass Effect 2, and these threads will work towards making her a major part of Mass Effect 3.

you know thats always been a big question on my mind. Sure the Quarians have a gigantic fleet, but some of the ships are 300 years old! They have numbers, but I'm not sure they can pack a punch.

Also, I'm not entirely sure geth want war. Legion stated geth only want existence and advancement. Organics can be part of the advancement if they choose to do so (what he said was vague at best), but this gives me evidence to conclude the Geth want to co-exist with organics.

maybe, after all they do have to find a way for you to kill BILLIONS of reapers simultaneously, unless they plan the game to end with the destruction of all life. But i hope you are right
