Hah, this was my very first post (back in the 1.0 thread). Someone asked if Tali was a virgin:
Yeah, It's practically confirmed with her saying she's never linked her suit environment with anyone. I also think it's safe to assume she's never even had a boyfriend.
When you think about it, it's almost indescribable the amount of attraction she must have for Shepard. You have to consider that a guy like Shepard would be extremely appealing to any "typical" woman; he's a handsome, very famous hero who commands a certain amount of power and respect. But you also have to consider Tali's personal issues. She grew up feeling little love and affection from her primary male role model, her father. A man like Shepard, who not only has a few years of age over her, but is also in a position of authority, would instantly appeal to a girl like Tali who's lacked affection from her father. And even on top of all of that, you have to factor in the isolation and lack of physical contact that the Quarian lifestyle entails.
You combine all of that, with the fact that Shepard is (probably) her first real love, and you basically have a perfect storm of affection and attraction from Tali towards Shepard. If Tali and Shepard are ever separated, Tali would be emotionally devastated beyond words.
Wow, I completely forgot about this post. Nice. And the observation is constructed really quite well.
It makes me thankful that we won't have to worry about the next ME game opening with Shepard
dying...again. I couldn't put Tali through that. Come to think of it, Bioware better not even *Think* of
making Shepard do the whole Neo things at the close of ME3. I, for one, will not have it....

And that just happens to be how the freakin' game starts!

You have to find her. To do so you must take a bearing of 237 degrees north and walk for ten miles. Then turn right and walk for twenty paces. You'll find a small shack. Knock three times and say "Crane sent me"
If youi came at midnight then you'll meet a man with a yellow jacket who will take you to a car. You get in and take the red pill. The car will take you to a ravine, follow it north for three miles and there, in a clearing you will find Tali.
If you didn't get to the house at midnight you are screwed!
Why can't every game have something like that?
This is what true warriors strive for, mah boi

All right, one question. His coat is not yellow. It's red. Am I still good?
No, he'll take you to a back room with miranda waiting there.
You don't want that
He'll be there, just wait
Alright... Man, it's raining pretty bad...
Alright I'm at the ravine. Took the pill and I'm walking. Had to carry my laptop in one hand through the rain. So what should I say?

This makes me wonder what her full feelings were at the end of ME1. The grounds for a crush are obvious enough, but I would think that she would try and temper her own feelings a little if she thought a relationship is impossible. I'm wondering whether she's loved Shep a ton since ME1, or if that didn't fully surface until the actual romantic relationship starts.

As touching as true love at that early stage would be, I think it's more honest to call it a crush. Perhaps even an unrealized crush. Here's this guy (a captain, a powerful figure in the quarian culture) that's letting her tag along with him, and actually taking the time to listen to her. Even beyond that, she has a role to place in the work he's doing, and is appreciated for her abilities, not reviled for who she is.Phil725 wrote...

Even without romantic love, the impact on her would be incredible.

I think she loved him.
Maybe it was just a crush at first, but she spent several months with him on the Normandy. Then in the years that followed, she was able to put things into perspective and figure out what her feelings really were.
As soon as you meet her, despite the suddenness of everything, she's all "I want to but I can't!" in regards to joining Shep (You can really hear it in her voice).
I like to imagine (and I even wrote this in my fanfic!) that her feelings were locked away--presumebly forever--when she thought he died. Then they just surfaced again when she saw him.
