Tali and Garrus were the only two who came back to Shepard. I understand Wrex, he's making the most of the opportunity I gave him. Cant' say the same for Liara and Ash and Kaiden.

Garrus and Tali though? We're family. Much as I like the other squadmates, they weren't there with me on Noveria when I saved the Rachni. They weren't there on Virmire, and I sure as hell don't remember them being with me on Illos and the Citadel.

Garrus and Tali have always had Shepard's back, and you can tell Shepard means more to them than anyone. Garrus seamed like he spent those two years fighting FOR Shepard, using the lessons he taught him to do some good in the world. And we all know how Tali couldn't get Shepard out of her head on Haestrom.

Those two will always have history with Shepard no one else will. No squaddie from 2 stood by him in 1, and no other squaddies from 1 stood by him in 2, 'cept the cute girl with the mask and the brother with a crater in his face.

Totally agree, and its one of the major reasons why Tali and Garrus are so popular now. 

I like how they've become so close to Shepard that it would be impossible to convincingly write them out of the third game

I don't blame Ashley/Kaidan or Liara for not being with Shepard in ME2. Ashley/Kaidan are servicemen in the alliance and can't just go AWOL when Shepard needs them. Ashley wouldn't be Ashley if she did and I respect that. Liara got caught up in some bad things and is obviously in need of some mental untwisting. On the whole I think that if Shepard's mission was so important he is the one who ought to help her, not the other way around.

That said, maybe it was circumstances that kept the others away from Shepard, but it doesn't really change the fact that it is Tali and Garrus that have been there all the way and should be closest to Shepard. There is no way you can just drop them from ME3 or relegate them to a short cameo or two.

how does shepard's mission being more important mean he should stop to help with hers? that seems counter intuitive to me.

well personally i don't like it when my people die. but i could see tali being ok with getting legion killed.

I'll never understand how some peeps even try to kill squaddies on purpose. Usually i save all of them, as i do also all the loyalties as well. I don't really hate any of them, though i dislike Miranda for her obvious choice of the "doing-place" just to demonstrate her dominance over the rest of the squad/crew.
