Well, I've completed all of my characters' back-stories and have my plot planned out. Time for me to start writing.

Totally agree, and its one of the major reasons why Tali and Garrus are so popular now.

I don't blame Ashley/Kaidan or Liara for not being with Shepard in ME2. Ashley/Kaidan are servicemen in the alliance and can't just go AWOL when Shepard needs them. Ashley wouldn't be Ashley if she did and I respect that. Liara got caught up in some bad things and is obviously in need of some mental untwisting. On the whole I think that if Shepard's mission was so important he is the one who ought to help her, not the other way around.

That said, maybe it was circumstances that kept the others away from Shepard, but it doesn't really change the fact that it is Tali and Garrus that have been there all the way and should be closest to Shepard. There is no way you can just drop them from ME3 or relegate them to a short cameo or two.

I fully understand Ashley/Kaidan's position, and don't hold it against them for not coming with you in ME2.  Like you say, they can't just go AWOL.  Tali didn't come with you on Freedom's Progress either.  The problem I have with the situation is their treatment of you.  They just completely blow you off and call you a Cerberus tool.  They don't even listen to you despite how close you've become.  You get the clear impression from them that even if they had the option, they wouldn't go with you.  Compare that again to Tali who says that she wants to come with you, but she just can't. 

Liara, I'm sorry, but she has no excuse.  I know you can trace it back to some mental problems, but the whole thing just doesn't add up.  Shepard tries to help her, but he doesn't have time to play psychiatrist and fix Liara.  She has to take responsibility for herself and get over her problems.  She hasn't faced anything worse than anyone else on the team.  Whoever you want to place the blame on, the fact that Liara chooses to pursue some grudge that can wait, instead of following Shepard is a huge knock on her character.  Whether its not being loyal, or just being weaker than all of the other characters, its something, and its negative.

Only if you want to kill Legion...

Put Tali, Legion or possibly Kasumi in the vent and Garrus, Miranda or Jacob as leader. Tali is a tech expert, not a team leader.

Put Tali, Legion or possibly Kasumi in the vent and Garrus, Miranda or Jacob as leader. Tali is a tech expert, not a team leader.

i've been wondering if kasumi works in the vents, seems like she should. does anyone here know for sure?

Agreed, if you want someone to die, put your two least favorite members of the team with you when you go through the seeker fields, and give Miranda her wish of holding the barrier.  That way she learns a lesson about modesty/being honest, and you still get a dead guy.

The easiest way to get a specific member killed is to skip his loyalty and get him to the endfight, he'll always get buried under that pile.
