I like the military family link, and for a long time Tali did have a single parent. Plus both Shepard and Tali's homes would have been ships so they can share expierences

Earthborn - War Hero

Spacer background's mother is still alive and both of Tali's parents are dead. Makes me sad

I say Earthborn -War Hero.

Earthborn's an orphan himself so he'd likely be perfectly fine with adoption (assuming the relationship lasts to that point) and since Tali is more Paragon than anything, the heroic past makes for a better fit, I'd think.
