Eh.  I've pretty much said my piece, and I don't want to turn this into a huge "HATE ON TALI'S MOM" thing.  After Rip's little "Tali in Kindergarten" minific, I just thought "Hey, what about her mom," got to thinking, and that's never a good thing for me to do.  I always get in trouble when I start thinking.

Well I lack perspective cuz my parents are quite different from Tali's. I can only guess. We've had plenty of Rael discussions so it's nothing new. Better than the geth discussions.

Best I can think is that while Rael was away, Shala did everything. Her mom might have been "in his shadow" or Shala's.

Not a full fic, just one of those really long shorts I write. I'm could've sworn you've seen it too, Kikai certainly has... regardless, I'll repost.

Rael: *rolls around in his bubble excitedly* Guys! Guys! I just got Shala and Col, now all we need is one more person and we'll have a full crew!
*Han clears his throat*
Rael: Yes, you can even be the captain this time too.
Han: *excited fistpump* Score!
Zaal: But who else can we get?
Shala: We can get that one girl over there...
*Across the room, a small girl in her own transparent clean 'tent' perks up slightly, a small pile of quarian K'Nex in her lap.*
Rael: Uh... I don't wanna hang out with her. She always makes these weird tinker toys and makes them follow her around. Let's go find Mari.
Han: Pssssh. You always play with Mari.
Rael: Well... *blushes* Mari's fun.
Han: Whatever, let's go get her. She's a good gunnery officer anyway.

*The small band walks off as the girl in the tent slouches slightly.*
Daro: Oh well. I don't need them... I've got you.
*Daro refers to her small band of three-inch tall tinker toys, some vaguely humanoid, others with wheels, tracks, and whatever pieces she could find in the bin. One of the more humanoid toys stands straight and salutes.*
Humanoid Toy: *in Daro's voice with an exaggerated falsetto* Yes, Chief Medical Officer Xen!
Daro: That's my loyal minion. Keep that up and you'll make Sergent in no time.
*Another toy with bulldozer tracks for legs and a vaguely humanoid -if oversized- body looks up to Daro.*
Bulldozer Orderly: *in Daro's voice with an exaggerated baratone* Chief Xen! One of your patients seems to be responding poorly to treatment!
*A toy a short distance from Xen struggles to flee due to it's newly attached, oversized arm roughly the size of the rest of it's body.*
Daro: Well, don't just stand there! *pats overturned toy box* Bring it to the operating room!
*The orderly quickly picks up the defective toy and unceremoniously hurls it toward the box. It overshoots the box, hits the edge of the tent, and bounces within Daro's grasp. She gingerly places it on the "operating table", then puts on a pair of goggles and retrieves a soldering iron and a screwdriver, holding one in each hand. The toy lays on it's back, struggling to stand up again.*
Daro: Well, you pitiful machine you. You may not like it now, but soon you'll be one of my best toys ever.
*Daro places the soldering iron on the toy's shoulder joint. It flinches.*
Daro: One day, I'll have all the best toys...

Shepard: Is something wrong?
Legion: Some of my auxilury input processes suffered a momentary freeze in operation. Its is as if someone had activated my general garbage collection routine out of cycle.
Shepard: Uh... *rubs the back of his neck* in English?
EDI: It was as if someone stepped on his grave, Shepard.
Legion: *studders, then nods* An apporpriate metaphor.
Shepard: I've got a lot to learn about you, I guess....
