I mean... I could live with not knowing what Tali looks like, it's part of her mystique.

But I at least want to know what quarians look like in general. I think that'd be good middle ground between those who want to see her face and those who don't.

Agreed.

One of the reasons I started to like Tali in ME1 was because of her mask and the mystery. It wasn't the only reason, of course, but there was just something about it that really 'interested' me, for lack of a better word.

Same. It's human nature, really. What we don't see and don't know much about, we are interested in. Quite simple.

I personally liked her most for her exuberant personality. She was cheery and always eager to help, but she was never ditzy or naive. She could take care of herself. Someone who goes through hardship, can handle herself, and doesn't come out the other end as a ****? I like that.

Yes. I like her for every possible reason there is. Liking her for some reason doesn't rule out other reasons. B)

Ahhh, the memories from recruiting her... "Thanks. You won't regret this."

Hmm, I assume you have a very good reason, for they are a great company...(?)

COD4 was pure awesomeness, the MP kicked ass, but they f***ed the MP up with MW2, I gotta admit. It's BS. But I love the story mode, and Spec Ops is nice to play with a friend. When, exactly, did you lose your faith in them?

MW2 sucked. Glitched, unbalanced...it's just not fun.
I've stopped playing a lot of MP now, actually.

What.

It's not like she's going anywhere unless you had her killed in the last mission. Unless, of course, by presence you mean "squad presence".

Of course I mean squad presence. What the hell else could I be talking about?

Omnipresence, ghostly presence,. . . Christmas presence.

Same here! Just sipping some coffee and reading gaming news. I'm still shocked about Activision firing Jason West and Vince Zampella (two VIP's from Infinity Ward) and all that stuff. Trying to find whatever info I can on this case... I love IW and I don't wanna see them go down in flames... But hell, that's Activision's job! To destroy great developers! Watch your ass, BioWare... I'm not gonna watch you get destroyed by EA! :(

I've lost faith in IW.

Yes, I honestly do think that they ruined the mp with MW2. Complete garbage compared to COD4. :( Reason #1: the maps suck ass. Reason #2: they went way too far with all that killing streak stuff.

I could find more reasons but those two alone are enough to make it rubbish, for at least. I'm too tired to explain and complain more. Did that enough last year... :pinched:

Agreed. In truth, I could write a book on why I like all the characters from both Mass Effect games (with the possible exception of Miranda, perfection as a flaw rarely makes a good character, Edward Cullen, I'm looking at you.). I pretty much love all the characters. I could spend an hour alone typing up why I think Tali is so cool. Definately one of the more heartwarming and interesting characters in recent memory. She's kinda like the Alyx Vance of Mass Effect. Always by Shepard's side.

Yeah. I do understand you, for it was a big letdown for me too. Because I had way too high hopes for it. Yeah I don't play much MP nowadays either. The great single player games just take the cake every single time. =]

Okay, name 5 non-romantic or overly emotional-laden/emotionally engaging things she did in ME2 that advanced her personality from ME1.

To be honest, whenever I see Tali's name mentioned all i see is either nude pics, semi-nude pics or verbal praising of either her appearance or her relationship with Shepard, with an occasional off-hand pass to her personality in ME1.

Seriously, what her fandom has turned into... it's like rule 34 on Fred Sanford and his truck. It is simply. Not. Okay.

So, why exactly do you people like Tali again? Honest question.

It's a subjective issue. Everyone has different and similar reasons.

I'm guessing hips, romance and nothing else.

Now, back in the days when she wasn't an LI, people used to like her for her spunky attitude and mechanical skills, i.e that she served a role kind of like Kaylee Frye on Firefly. Sure, her hips was still a big part of it, but for some of us the entire idea of that was that she was forbidden fruit (a role now thankfully occupied by Samara), and to even see something reminiscent of romantic subtext you'd have to read between the lines.

Honestly, I was initially thrilled when Tali was an LI in ME2 and it was kind of nice, but in hindsight an LI is all she is right now - canonically, fanonically and in every other concievable way. Not only did she go from happy-go-lucky wrench wench polyanna to a clingy, emotional love interest - she lost her attitude along the way. And it's boring. Extremely so.

And the worst part is that these threads... the abominations, they will just help spur BioWare to YET AGAIN cave in to the fandom and make her a shallow love interest in ME3 with no other redeeming qualities. As far as I am concerned, you people destroyed Tali. I hope you are happy.

This post was brought to you by Subjective Opinions Inc.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's just opinion.

Allowing yourself to be swayed by masses on a subject only you can really judge for yourself is weak. You are disappointed that she has changed, that she has gone through -gasp- character developement. Her character is still consistent with the first game, she still makes dry quips, she still acts as a voice of reason, Tali still is loyal to her people, you just don't like the way she acts if you romance her. If it bothers you so, don't romance her.

Your opinion is still in the minority, you need to accept that. Most people do like Tali, "Talimancers" aside, even I joined the forums only recently. And by the way, my opinion says you are being condenscending.

This is going to get real ugly real fast.  Azint, drop it.  We don't need this here.  If he wants to be like that he can make his own thread about it.

Also true. When I first met her I admit that I was mostly indifferent. I liked her accent and of course the. . .curves of the suit, but as the game went on I learned more about her character, I found her to be incredibly deep, interesting, and sympathetic.
I was at first upset that she was not an LI in the first game, but now I see that it was all for the best. It made the relationship seem more real when it did bloom.

Bad Company 2 is the better game, by far.
My friends all think that MW2 is just the greatest thing to happen on this planet.
Like you said, I'd rather just play the single player games, no BS there... usually. Image IPB

Heh, funny story, I thought she WAS a LI in the first game, so for my first five playthroughs I tried to find a way to romance her, then found out later you couldn't.

I was sad. I didn't have the slightest interest in Ash or Liara.
