Poor girl....

Ooo!  Never thought about it that way.  Sounds like pilgrimage training should probably include basic courses on capitalism for naive quarians.

Possibly.  But she didn't mention trying to find work.  She mentioned gambling everything on the freaking stock market.

that is lso correct. She is good with math and thought she could make unlimited money on the stock market. She's an Expert AI programmer, she never mentions looking for work in that field.

Gimme an R, gimme an A, gimme a C......

Or good business sense, quarians are more trouble than their worth. Except Tali of course, all she asks is....umm...the only thing she asks for iss....h/o I'll think of it.

And the Batarians have probably been making Levaithans of Dis ever since they encountered humanity.

Then why let us just take their lunch money in the Skyllian Verge?  The batarians are a useless pack of despots.  Their sole export is criminals and terror.  They're like the North Korea of Mass Effect.

Because they think that everyone in the galaxy would side with humanity if they started a full scale war.
They are a paranoid dictatorship after all.
If say the fleet of every major sentient race in the galaxy was busy fighting for it's life against the Reapers, well they'd smell blood in the water.

Well a lot of people won't hire quarians either because it's bad for business due to stereotyping, or because of their special health and food requirements.

With every Mass Effect game, BioWare somehow manages to make the quarian race more awesome, yet at the same time sound like the worst thing in the world.

I'm actually looking forward to the Reapers starting out in batarian space. Then I'll laugh for a while before doing the paragon thing and hurrying up to stop them.

Well technically Turian have the same food requirements. the only thing they would need is a clean room so they can change suits/ or what not.

Yeah.  If you think of it, growing up in the communal market system the Fleet utilizes would make their Pilgrimmage hard!  They never have seen a store, never utilized credits.  It only seems natural that Quarians would usually fall below the poverty line.

This could actually create alot of tension in Council Space.  The Batarrians would probably try to keep the fact that they are under attack a secret, because they are so crazy paranoid.  But an ever increasing trickle of batarian refugees would finally draw attention to the Reaper threat.  Thus, Shepard is given enough time to mobilize and concentrate a martial response.

True, but there's a lower health risk for turians and their food does not need to go though special sanitation. Where as if you have a quarian for long-term employment there's a lot of extra costs to attend to, costs that don't always justify the skill.

And, again, there also just good ol' fashioned racism.

*In ME3*
Hackett: Shepard the Reapers have invaded Batarian space.
Shepard: Have they asked for help?
Anderson: No they insist that they can handle this "incursion" on their own.
Shepard: Sucks to be them I guess.
*2 years later*
Hackett: Shepard the Batarians just killed the last Reaper.
Shepard: So the Batarians saved all life in the galaxy from extinction?
Anderson: That's how it looks.
Shepard: *looks at screen* F*CK YOU BIOWARE DEVELOPERS I WORKED FOR TOO F*CKING LONG TO LET THOSE BLINKING DOUCHEBAGS STEAL ALL MY GLORY!!!!
Bioware Dev: Did Shepard's character just act on it's own?
Ray: Yes. I'm scared.
Bioware Dev: We'll just change it to where Shepard saves the day. That'll be more exciting.
Shepard; You better because I have Tali and she has a shotgun!

Totally.  Space North Korea, I'm telling you.

Anyway, what I was thinking was the Reaper invasion as a sort of time-limit.  You have to run around gathering allies, but each mission you undertake has more worlds ravaged by the Reapers or something.  They'd start in batarian spaces because in general the players aren't going to be too worried about that.

Here.  The easy way to do it is about halfway down the page in Ray Joel Oh's comment.

Thats possible, but I think gamers have made it rather clear that they don't like time-limits. The original Fallout, for example, was well receieved, except for its timelimit.

But then again, I think Bioware is good enough to make it work.  That idea would create a hell of alot of "what should I do moments".

I mean, the turians could probably do it, they'd just stick 'em in camps and not worry too much.  But humans?  Oh, man.  Humanity already hates the batarians, and it would be "why should we feed them when we're trying to fight off the Reapers" 24/7.
