It was storming like a motherf-er over here about an hour ago.  I was worried I was going to lose power and look like a big jerk.

It would be like your own Pavlov experiment.

Only instead of dogs and bells it's Talimancers and a photo of Lovecraft.

Is Azint still around? He was promising to find fault with me tonight.

Again you slipped more into observation rather than describing the narator's own thoughts of the events. You had a fair balance of both, but not a fair balance for a Lovecraftian story. The idea is to have thee characters appear that they are thinking about everything around them, not necesarrily describe what is happening.

Honestly, I am cool with either outcome.

I'm weird like that.

But that won't stop my endless speculation.

It's either that or 'shipping, I guess.

Pfffft!

It's hardly shipping when it's practically canon within the plot.

This was very well-put.

It's f-ing hard to describe any kind of romantic attraction since HPL left no examples to go by.  I've read Thing on the Doorstep like 10 times now.

...Which is why I told you that you have written it quite well.

The next section will hopefully be a treat since I'm planning one of those horrifically long monologues that HPL sometimes did.  You know, where half the story is one character speaking in extravagantly long paragraphs?  HPL was so wacky about dialogue.

And I am appreciative of the praise.  It's just a little difficult.  I'm concerned about what I'm going to do when/if I get to the consummation in Shadow Over Alarei.

Lovely!

Though I'm surpised you chose that quote over the obvious "fear is the oldest and strongest emotion of
mankind..." one.

And thank you very much, BTW.

I figured I might try my hand at promoting someone else's work.... for once! :P

I've had that picture of a forest in my "spooky pictures" folder for awhile now.  It just seemed to fit your tale.

And the quote was hard to choose.  Lovecraft left alot of good material behind.  I just think the 'abyss' portion related especially well to your work.  Tali's "rituals" are the worst (in the best sense of the word) kind of foreshadowing.

It produces salivation and uncontrollable shuddering?

That is one of the cornerstones to any story of his. You should be careful with what you write.

Before or after Shepard gets over the madness of the revelation?

I'm assuming your referring to that "corpse-orgy" from the last post?  Yeah... that fits OHGODWHAT perfectly.

During, maybe?

I've got some great ideas for the Call of the Elder Machines/Shadow Over Alarei divide.

You may get some use out of this website. Photos of abandoned buildings, source of inspiration for details maybe?

Pretty much everything I've posted for CotEM has come from that folder.  But yeah, some of it is more OHGODWHAT than others.

During? Oh wow.

That's going to be a rough one to get over.

Not exactly something you can just bring up over a quiet brunch.

Miss Zorah: By the way...

Some of these are definitely the buildings Lovecraft was writing about. There are some absolute gems in that archive.

Yeah, I noticed that Danvers was in the list.  You've seen Session 9, right?

Nobody does "abandoned" better than Detroit.
