Before you go.

What the hell is with the Avatar? It is the epitome of badass. What's it from?

Crap, I can't leave, might as well answer the question, it's from Kopps, a Swedish movie.
And you shouldn't really bother with the rest, this is the only funny part, to be honest.

Now, I'll give leaving one more shot... OFF I GOOOOOO!

It's still ****ing awesome. Thanks. Won't bother with the rest of the movie, but I'm still amused none the less.

You sir, are win.

Xen is a loner by nature. When I think of her on pilgrimage, I get the vision of an environment suit draped in an old, tattered hood and cloak. A wall between her and the world, thicker than the average quarian armor.

That's just me though.

True.

She takes the that role rather well. It is only appropriate that her appearance should reflect that.

I'm trying to play her mannerisms as less cold and distant and more sarcastic and dry, while still maintaining that pride in her people and their achievements. With the obvious fascination with technology, of course.

Right. She's certainly less bitter. Smarmy, but not apathetic and iced over yet. However, this is a person that probably didn't have many friends growing up. That's coming from a person where everyone is family. There's a wall there, and right now it's a fence. She's going to let someone in, he's going to burn down the house, and then she's putting up steel barracades with automated machine turrets. She's fresh on the pilgrimage, she's new, the world is so big and so open, and she has the chance to meet new people who don't know anything about her yet, who aren't going to shun her all the time.

She's in for a rude awakening. Good to keep that all in perspective. I'm coninually impressed by your improvement Jones.

Okay, one more thing.
I love you both, this will probably become one of my favorite fanfics once it's out.

She has a chance to meet people who might just see her for who she is.

Sounds... disturbingly familiar...

This is definitely something that needs to stay in perspective.

I really am thankful for your willingness to help me with this. It's strange working with all this free space.

That's just it. It's a perversion of Tali's experiences. It's ironic, because this is exactly what Tali could have become. She was always alone in the crowd on the flotilla. She had no serious relationships beyond her parents and Shala, and all of those were terrible. What would have happened if she turned around, met Shepard, he sold her off, then she endured weeks or months of brutallity? What would that have done to her world view? Her view of the geth for putting her in a world where she was doomed to failure from the start? There is a WEALTH of potential here.

I'm glad to help you. We kind of had the idea together, and I've enjoyed watching the concept grow and expand. With you to the end.

(Just a slight adjustment to the Dutch word for desert (yes, desert, not a dessert like Kissel))
Or a slight adjustment of the word for dessert: Totye.

I'm trying to hear each of them in her voice. Find which one just clicks right.

Khalos certainly sounds like a true quarian vessel, the kind of environment that would breed racial pride.

Hmmm... potential is
right...

Maybe she gets sold into it by someone she cares about?
Happens enough in the modern world...

Indeed.

Girl
meets guy. Guy saves girl from C-Sec. Girl falls for guy. Guy is
actually a spotter for slavers. Guy sells girl. Girl dies inside. Girl
breaks free. Girl takes vengeance. Girl goes mad.

It does doesn't it? It's strong. Sounds like a military vessel...

A lab ship... Hmm...

Now I'm curious about her parents.

She was clearly a troubled child. I wonder how her parents treated her.

Were they afraid?

Were they supportive?

Many possibilities.

Probably cold scientists. She shows an aptitude for it at a young age to gain their attentions, but it doesn't really work. Her parents are probably observant, methodical. Everything is done by the scientific method. That kind of thing. They definately didn't cuddle her enough as a kid.

Or maybe they did, and something happened to them, she saw it, and it traumatized her. Either one. Maybe she became a scientist to live up to their memory. That's an interesting notion...

I played with the idea of them dying a short while before her Pilgrimage began. Something suitably tragic. A hull breach or something similar.

Give her a different kind of drive.

Or maybe she should have that same drive Tali had.

I can only imagine how they must have reacted when Xen returned... This different person wearing their daughter's suit.

On the one hand... you don't want to do the same thing Tali had going... it feels like you're copying... on the other hand, there is potential for exposition.

Better idea. Dead parents. Instead, use boyfriend.

Elaboration: Have Xen's parents be dead. A part of her motivation could be to make their memorie's proud. Ancestor Worship, that kind of thing. In their place for expostion, maybe you have another young quarian, a male, who has a thing for Xen, but her being a teenager, she's completely oblivious. It's a non serious thing, they're just kind of like passing friends, which is as good as it gets for Daro. There's some chemistry there, but it's very slight, minute, just beginning to take some form. Daro goes off on Pilgrimage, comes back a broken, insane mess, and she ends up pushing away the one good thing she has left. Again, opposite to Tali, who would wanted to end up with Shepard and ends up coming out to him, Daro ends up pushing that away as a result of trauma. It adds a whole new level of tragedy to the affair.

Just an idea.

Indeed, first track on the album, but pretty much all the tracks have that gloomy/techno feel to it. (Except for "Artillery" maybe)

Lividity Jones wrote...

Xen held her fist in the air, the orange glow of her omni-tool shining like a beacon in her hand as her voice carried out across the assembled crew of the Moreh.

"In my hand I carry the weapon that will rebuild our future. I carry the hope of generations. I carry the key to our legacy."

They cried out her name. Men, women and children.

"The geth have driven us to scavenge for our survival, forcing us to live in this squalorous slum of a fleet. Long ago, the galaxy turned is back on us as our home burned, our children slaughtered at the hands of the tools we had created. They spat on us. Beat us down. For three hundred years we have lived in exile. But today, I come to you with the power to take back what is ours. Our rightful place. With this, I will bring the geth to their knees. Then the galaxy will tremble as they see how the meek have inherited their former glory. Retribution for all those allowed to suffer and die at the hands of this galaxy. Our children. There will be no mercy, no negotiation. There will only be justice for those who's backs were broken and their suits ripped from their flesh. There will be a bloody reckoning and the tools that were once our butchers will return to their rightful place as our vengeance!"

A transcendant chorus of jubilation greeted her words. They loved her. But there was fear there as well. She didn't care. They served her. They were her toys. She always had the very best toys. They were her friends. They made her strong. She didn't need to be afraid with them around her.

She didn't need to be that scared girl in the dark all those years ago...

Some musical accompaniment?
