To be honest, I find it kind of refreshing.

Same here. To me, it can be compared with things like eating candy all day long (Or reading Rage's sweet fanfics all day) you can get bored with it. But when you mix it, read something tragic, or otherwisely different. Next time when you read one of those happier fanfics, it feels a bit more stronger.
Like the saying, every uphill has its downhill.

Plus it's always refreshing to see how much skill some people just have, when it comes to writing, no matter what happens in the story. As for the moment, I'm saddened that I just can't start reading RedTracer7's fanfic "Creed unhinged". It starts so strongly, and hits my weak spot soon, so I have to ragequit it, almost. But then again, I'm missing some serious well written piece of fanfic.
I'm just hoping that someday I can manage to read it.

Exactly. It's like a skinny kid eating too much candy/ junk food. He'll either be disgusted and stop for a while, or give in to his inner fatty personality, and just grab some more.

I Fully agree. I noticed the change immidietly when I read "Borrowed Time" and after that read some face melting FF.

I don't like the depressing fics that are that way just for the sake of being depressing. Character torture writes I call them.



Ones that try to make a point or get something across, though, I'm fine with.

Ofcource I still enjoy Happy FF more. And I really don´t like those FF that keep you in suspension all the time. But sad story there and there boosts the feelings from happy story greatly. Just make sure you have happy story to read right after the sad story.

Well I can say that Drifting surely makes a point.

I haven't run across any fic that puts characters in depressing situations just because they can. There have been always something more in them.

I've got the first chapter in my bookmarks at home, I just never got to reading it, loved his Beneath the Veil though, waiting for the final chapter.
That said, I might start reading it today... Or tomorrow... Or, well... Some day...

Yeah, that sounds like BS to me. I have a hard time believing that Tali would do something like that based on some eavesdropped conversation between some random quarian and a turian. Especially when she said herself that she don't want nerve stimulators to be a part of their relationship.

If you don't want Riptide coming through your front door with an axe, don't use Tali. There is no quarantee, what that man would do.

How 'bout Garrus? Shep's best friend ever in the galaxy, going on rampant with the rescue mission and Tali gets to experience Shepard's downfall, and of course to provide her support to Shepard.

Lividty's fic was rather entertaining, leaving me grinning smugly when I finished it.

And about the stimulators, she didn't want her first, mabe last too, time to be "artificial". She wanted to feel his skin on hers. It doesn't mean that she couldn't have one installed into her suit.
