Not to derail the thread again, but I'd like to test the waters.

Daro'Xen nar Khalos had never experienced the desert. The sand beating against her visor was a new sensation, if an unwated one; one of many she had learned to endure on her Pilgrimage. Caleston was, without doubt, the most unpleasant world she had visited. Entire plains of molten sulfur, sandstorms that blocked out a distant sun, towering foundries populated by dirt-crusted miners. If it wasn't for the unusual abundance of raw materials, she would not have bothered. The capital of Syneu was home to the very foundries that made this world the largest source of drive core material in the Traverse. Just a small shipment to bring home to the Flotilla would be enough for any captain to offer her a place in their crew. Walking through the streets of the capital, volcanic air carrying more heat than even her suit could compensate for, she could see the looks of disdain she received from these humans. She had heard of them. Newcomers to the galaxy after their war with the turians. Apparently, it didn't take much for an entire race to choose to hate her own.

What do you think? Comments? Concerns?

Sounds very good.

When is it taking place? Fifteen years or so after FCW?

I like the comment, "it didn't take much for an entire race to chose to hate her own" but I think it would be more Xen-ish (granted you have done more research) if she took a more distainful approach such as:

How ironic that such young race, fumbling it way through the galaxy would find it appropriate not only to judge but to hate the race that had explored more of the relay network and created the technilogical marvel of the geth.  They follow

Not exactly sure.

Xen doesn't have a definite age, so I can't pinpoint when her Pilgrimage took place, but I imagine it would have taken time for her to have become an Admiral.

Really, I'm just winging it when it comes to a timeframe.

Basically, I like to think they she would be almost insulted (more explicitly described) that such a young race as humanity could judge a race such as hers.

Xen is less... disdainful of other races at this point in her life.

Her Pilgrimage will quickly change that.

Fair enough, I suppose I was looking at "end result Xen" and applying her attitude to the past.

No, you have a legitimate point.

She is proud to be a quarian, however she is far too cynical already to really let their attitude get to her.

Her childhood was a little rough, living as a loner in a society where everyone is essentially family.

She had to call a few favors or something to get that Admiral position, because if she was about twenty when she did her Pilgrimage, there would not be much time left once she got back to the Fleet. If she's around thirty years old now, that is.

Unless she was one of those exceptions. Too important/sick to leave the Fleet in the first place.

I always felt that it was easy for other races to be distainful of us because we have an "entitlement complex" that seems to rub the wrong way of the "older races".

Anyway Jones, regardless you are doing a fine job. If "last son" was any indicator, I'd say we are in for a treat...a bitter, tragic treat. Can't say I approve of Xen's goals but I know she would defend the Flotilla with her life...and thats enough for me for now

If I'm doing it right, you'll be convinced that what Xen is doing is right by the time this is over.

hmmmm....  <_<

We'll see.  You sir have an uphill climb if you think you are going to convince me Xen's solution is the best one.

I'll grant you it IS a solution - perhaps she should go hang out with Dr. Archer from project overlord

Her solution might not be the right one, but you won't doubt her motivations.

The why is the critical question here.

Why the quarians deserve retibution.

Xen will embody this.

I will give you that, the Quarians do deserve retribution (or at least a planet)

The "why" will be the interesting part, I trust you will deliver it in a good way :D

Write on Dr. Jones!  Write and explore another unexplored part of the Quarian universe!

I read CC's "Borrowed Time" and it got me thinking of something. What is the real reason why the SR-2 Normandy can't land on planets? The only answer I got from wiki is because it's simply too big, but I want a more technical explanation, because size didn't stop Sovereign or the Collector ship from landing on planets.
