Okay, I would think that rape would be pretty much a non-issue with quarians all things considered. Not if you're concerned about everyone living through it.

This. And I doubt they drink much.

lets say that The woman Tali thought was her mother couldn't get pregnat. Rael gets upset and flys over to Shala to talk (tells her every thing). Rael starts to drink and Shala a bit because of the shock. They both a little to drunk and the next morning was a surprise. Shala finds out later she is pregnat and Rael is the father. Rael Shala and Raels wife devis a plan to keep it a secret.
And Tali's life took a unexpected turn before she was even born.

I finally started collecting some of my short fics together. What did I just walk into?

Love these fics, bro.
Humorous, yet still believable. ('cept for that Reaper one, maybe, but that was just plain hilarious)
My favorite one's still Xen's childhood, that's just all sorts of d'awww.

Here is an example ~_^  I believe It was Kira that got it started over on ff.net, iirc.

Wait, who's Kira on ff.net exactly?
Is he Ganja Naraku, or someone else?

Got it in one, Thunder.  Also, Some of these feature it.  It ALSO has a Tali/Shepard/Liara three way cluster****, but I can forgive it.  Maybe.

I don't think it's impossible but there's no reason to think it happened.

could be an explaintion to why Shala helped raise Tali in the first place.

You don't have to be related to help out. Some people just care enough to do so.

Well, unless Shala was lying, it is directly refuted by in game dialogue.

I like to think it is the other way around myself.  Shala can't have children, or has no partner (by choice?).  She has no children.  Tali is the closest thing to a daughter she has ever had.  Especially with both of Tali's parents gone, I would expect Shala to be as subtly overprotective as possible.

Think about it.  Exiled or no, Shala has seen to it that Tali is healthy, protected, and happy on the Normandy.  Everything you'd want a child to be.

hhmmmmm....the ideas, they be percolating. *goes off to plot*

It's subtle.  More importantly, the rest of it is excellent.

Oh, and on the Naraku/Kira thing.  This is from Chapter 3
-------------
He'd been pleasantly surprised when he'd first touched her bare skin;
while it was somewhat colder than a human's, it was not at all
unpleasant. The closest analogy he could make to the sensation was the
feeling you get when you first dive into a swimming pool; it was cold
enough to surprise you at first but your body grew used to it quickly
enough. The only thing that made this analogy not quite accurate was
that her body seemed able to absorb his heat quite well, as evident by
the small puffs of steam rising from her mouth with every breath.

Yeah, I'm not really convinced by the whole "Shala's Tali's mom" either, but I'm a serious sap when it comes to conspiracy theories like this.
Not to mention, imagine the decision you'd have to make if Shepard were to find out about this.
Tell Tali, or keep it a secret for her sake?

Oh. Yeah, I can see that. The writer is making it sound like Shepard is some teenage boy.

Ah yes, now I remember, the "she absorbed his body heat very well" part instantly rang a bell when I browsed through.
Love the idea though, and I think I'm gonna start looking for a scientific explanation for it soon enough, IT MUST BE TRUE.
