“Listen to me very carefully.” I’m annoyed now, and if reason isn’t going to work I’ll just threaten him. “Let me explain to you how I could kill you without even firing a shot.” I indicated his legs. “I’d kick your left leg into right kneecap; take advantage of turian joints to dislocate. As you’re falling, I’ll use my right arm to twist your body to the right. Id’ then be able to roll over you onto a dominance position. Then I’d go for the eyes, and while you recoil in pain, I’ll take the opening to crush your throat from my superior position.”
The turian looks mortified now. Jesse’s shaking in his hand. I stand up slowly and he doesn’t move to stop me. “Now give me my gun.”
He obeys.
Hah, I remember reading that threattalk from some Rene-shep fic in FF.net! Was it your doing, or are you borrowing it?

Last time:
It’s never a good sign when a quarian looks stressed about a ship. They’re a tech savvy people. They usually know when shiit’s about to go down. “The hell was that?!” I demanded turning to the quarian.
She rolled her eyes. “Right, just because I’m a quarian I instantly know what’s going on in whatever ship I’m in.” She sounds half nervous for once. “Pilots should be able to tell us what’s going on.” We made our way to the cockpit without much incident, if there was a straggler she’d just point her gun and shoot, barely even looked at em. I took the time to finally get a look at the woman who’d I’d been working with.
I’ve worked with a few quarians before, usually informants when I’m tracking a mark or a gun runner on the black market when I need some new tech. Never seen one in armor before, though. The hardsuit was held tight to her suit ceramic plates were held in place to cover the vital organs. Both her arms looked encased in metal gloves that covered her entire lower arm. Legs had extra ammo packs for her rifle and she was wearing a belt that looked like a modified version of that new Armax Arsenal Shield Harness.
“So you gonna hurry up old man or are you content to stare at my butt all day?” I swear woman hadn’t even turned around.
The door slid open easily and we were met with two batarians already dead. Looked like they’d shot each other over something. Bodies weren’t cold either. Had to have been recent, I glanced at Nia who had already moved over the pilot’s chair. Holographic interface looked damaged, pistol shot. “Well shiit.” She sighed leaning back and putting her feet up on the broken controls. “Entire system’s fried, if you have any last wishes I’d get down to it, cause it looks like we’re on a collision course for Illium.”
Son of a biitch.
“So you’re just gonna give up?!” I shout moving into her line of sight. She didn’t even glance at me as she pressed a small plate on her glove I hadn’t noticed before. It pops out and she pulls it revealing a cable that she links up to the sputtering controls. Her omnitool flashes online and data readouts spill down in front of her too fast for me to keep up with. Her other hand activates a second omnitool which she holds over the console.
“Head back to the shuttle and get everyone onboard the ship itself.” She sounded more annoyed than nervous now, like whatever she was doing to the ship was both tedious and incredibly boring. I was no tech so I did what I was told, I trusted Nia only because she was in the same boat we were. If she planned on betraying me she’d die just as well. Anyway I leave her to her tinkering and make it back to the shuttle.
I’m greeted with a punch to the jaw by this turian who takes Jesse off me and aim’s my own weapon at my skull. “Don’t move slaver!” He snarls obviously thinking he’s accomplishing something. “One wrong step and you’re a dead man.
“Look ******.” I growl though my jaw, feels cracked. I should shoot him but that’d just panic the rest. Panic’ll get people killed faster than a bullet. “I just wiped out this whole ship of mercs.” I prop myself up and the shaking man takes a step back keeping Jesse trained on me. “If I wanted you hurt, you’d be in pain. Now give me my gun.”
“Not a chance, human. I give you this gun you’ll take us away to be slaves. I’m not letting that happen.”
Herding everyone onto the ship isn’t that hard after that. They may not trust me but I think they knew better than to disagree with the crazy bastard holding the assault rifle. I keep the specifics about what’s going on to myself again, no need to cause a panic. I place the turian I scared in charge of keeping order as I head back up to the cockpit. Nia is still fiddling with her two omnitools, though I can’t tell if she’s making progress.
“Before you ask, no, I don’t have control of all systems, thrusters are still locked down and by the look of it things aren’t going to get easier” She still sounds annoyed. “I hate flying buckets like these, particularly when some idiot damaged the landing gear.”
“So we’re still going to crash.”
“Barring you miraculously building this entire interface from scrap, yeah I’d strap in.”
I take the copilot’s seat. “Can you land this thing?”
She turns her head and I can see her raising an eyebrow behind her visor. “Quarian.”
“Right. Stupid question.”

Anyway after all was said and done I woke up in the hospital about five days after the crash, passed out after I hit my head during atmospheric reentry. News was calling the crash a horrible accident but it looked like the casualties were relatively low considering what could’ve happened. Oddly enough I got all the credit for saving the spaceport, figured Nia’d be soaking up the glory. Spaceport wanted me to stick around for a while but I had work to do. Nia was long gone it looked like, probably off to collect her bounty on that turian.Kira Shepard wrote...
