*Kasumi sits alone in the Port Observation Deck. Her trained ears hear Tali approaching the doorway before it slides open with a hiss. Their eyes make contact immediately. There is a long and deafening silence.*

Kasumi: So? What happened?

Tali: I... I told him I couldn't do it....

*Tali slowly walks over, taking a seat on the couch next to the master thief.*

Tali: I told him I couldn't endanger the mission...

*Kasumi's eagerness shows in her voice.*

Kasumi: What did he say?

Tali: He... He said he didn't want anyone else... He said he was willing to do whatever he had to to make this... us work...

*Kasumi's jaw hangs open.*

Kasumi: Why do you sound sad?

Tali: I'm not... I just can't believe it... He has been so good to me. Ever since we first met he has looked out for me. He was there to defend me when nobody else would. I'm... I'm so happy.

Kasumi: He's a catch, Tali. There aren't very many like him.

Tali: I know. He's so brave, courageous, selfless, heroic... I remember this mission on Amaranthine-

Kasumi: Before you go into rainbows-and-butterflies mode, don't you have some work to do?

Tali: Hm? Oh! Yes, right. I need to speak with Mordin... He should be able to help.

Kasumi: Well, get going.

*Tali walks away, exiting the room as Kasumi shouts after her.*

*Zaeed throws another knife, the blade landing just shy of it's intended target. Shepard stands to his right, leaning up against the desk.*

Zaeed: So... The quarian?

Shepard: How could you tell?

*Zaeed shrugs, tilting his head towards the security monitors.*

Zaeed: You notice these things when you get about my age.

*Shepard grins, crossing his arms. The two soldiers share a long silence.*

Zaeed: She's good in a fight, I'll give her that much.

*Shepard shakes his head before standing upright and continuing out of the Starboard Cargo Area.*

Shepard: Talk to you later, Zaeed.

*Zaeed leans back against the wall, the silence his only companion. With a flex of his fingers, his omni-tool flares. Bringing it up, he deftly works the holographic keys until a pic is shown. A much younger man hefts a familiar assault rifle over his shoulder, a man with less scars and a good eye. One tattooed arm is holds a quarian female by the waist, her diamond-like eyes visible under a pale blue visor. Zaeed sighs.*

Zaeed: Treat her good, Shepard...

LJ, haven't you read Kira's fic about Zaeed's old mission, where he runs into a quarian woman? I mean, with that fic of yours, it can't be coincidence!
