@Riptide
Are you asking if we would read it?  I probably will, just not tonight.  I'm not focused enough right now to get anything out of a story and then leave a constructive comment.

Readiing it would help, but is not necessary.

Asking opinions in general. General interest. That sort of thing. Trying to ascertain if continuation is favorable.

For what its worth, I felt it when she got the "Quarians need not apply" treatment in the first chapter. Felt it right here.  You cant see me right now but I have a fist over my chest.

Well, from what I've gathered in the few comments I've heard about it, it's supposed to be a dark story about Daro'Xen's pilgrimage, right?  Personally, I think it sounds very interesting, as I find her character to be interesting and seeing her fleshed out more by you guys would be, for lack of a better word, neat.

I can't really comment on continuation, though, since I haven't read it yet.

Keelah Se'Lai, I need some sleep. I'll deal with the Yeti and Kraidy tomorrow.

Night, Gervaise. Rune. Mike. Drunk one. ;)

Fair enough.

We're just a bit stuck is all. Pressure. Concern. Sometimes it simply helps to have people to bounce ideas and thoughts off of. Thank you.

Avoiding disillusionment or burnout is a challenge to any writer.  A lot of times I feel like "how the hell is this worth it?  If I stopped, who would care?  I'd be better off not embarrassing myself by continuing."  One of the ways I like to steel myself for continued effort is to make promises.  Just by saying that you're going to deliver, you put yourself in the mindset of doing just that.  So feel free to tell us when the next installment is going to show up.

In the mean time, please accept my encouragement as incentive to continue.  I'm reading and would like to read more.

When I feel pressure or concern when I write something, it usually means Im afraid to put down what I have in mind on paper in fears that it wont be the right words to go along with the story. While that might be true, maybe you should try writing down anything and everything that comes to mind then re-re-re-re-write it. Sort of like starting with a lump of clay and molding it into a pair of b-- I mean, art.

I just finished reading the first two chapters, and I'll tell you right now it made me give a damn.

Provoking actual emotion within me is a hard thing to do, and I applaud you for that.

Hopefully I will be in the thread more often now, no promises.  But whenever I'm around I would love to hear ideas.  Also, I think I will try to go read the first chapter.  I'll try to keep up with the thread while doing that.

Nuke speaks the truth. Every time I write a story there's always that voice in my head that tells me that no one is going to like it, that I'm wasting my time, that people are going to laugh. And the long a project goes the louder the voice gets.

Just keep at it. You guys do good work and everyone here is nothing but supportive. If that means chapters take awhile to come out or whatever, we'll understand. Work at your pace.

Teaser:

When morning forced night into temporary retreat there was no sign of whatever lurking presence had haunted the hallway outside my door. In fact, the wan sunlight illuminated only a greater degree of squalor than was revealed the night previous by Lt. Alenko’s lamp. Though I had not noticed it before retiring, the floorboards were strown with fragments of soil , doubtless signifying the absence of adequate cleaning staff. The soil seemed rather more moist than it should have been, had it been tracked in by our shoes, nor was it arranged in any manner suggestive of footprints. The only order to be discerned in its scatter was a perhaps-imagined trail of shuddersome sinuousness traced through it. In any event, it must have come from our party, for the bits of soil were only left as far down the corridor as my door.
