One shots definitely are easier to manage, since you can just do whatever scene comes to mind rather than following a progression.

We better hurry up and find those alien ruins on Mars, then. Even if I doubt that the Earth is going to be so polluted and all the resources depleted, so it can't support life during my lifetime.

Hey, who knows? Maybe there are aliens like the quarians out there in some part of the galaxy. If so, I want to meet them before I die. Nothing wrong with that.

Shepard sat there silently, in his thoughts. He sighed again and lowered his eyes down, focusing at a simple coffee stain on the table, suddenly finding it very interesting.

”Wish it was that simple” he whispered.

”Wanna talk about it” the helmsman questioned sincerely. Shepard chuckled at this.

”No... but thanks Jo-” he started to reply, but the offer to listen to him made him change his sentence in midair.
”Jeff” the commander finished with a weary smile on his sombre face.
Activating the display on his private workspace he started to type in the report for the Alliance brass.

I'm just gonna make some wild guesses on what this story's about:
-Tali's dead
-Tali didn't join him on FP
-Alternate universe: Tali didn't join him on Haestrom
-Didn't give Tali the geth data in ME1
-Tali left him in ME1 to complete her pilgrimage because of the aforementioned
-Tali has to leave to/for the Migrant Fleet in ME2 after/before the assault on the Collector Base
Addendum: Or is it the next chapter for your Cold day fic? Which could involve numbers 4&5...

Also, this fic's pretty darned good, it's not uber-d'awww, it's not dramatic, it's reasonably realistic with a couple of uplifting moments. Involves Tali building up her feelings for Shepard during ME1.

Now, I gotta catch up with that Revolutions fic, shame I didn't find out about it earlier, now I've got 24 massive chapters left to read, and it's gonna get updated soon...

Pretty close you got there. If you read the first chapter, you'd know what it would be about. *winkwink* 

Meetings is quite nice.  But I like Linear Progression much more.

That new FF is starting to build symphaty for Xen.
