[b][i]Mistress Hala'Dama. Unit has an inquiry.
-What is it, 431?
Do these units have a soul?
-Who taught you that word?
We learned it ourselves. It appears 216 times in the Scroll of Ancestors.
Mistress Hala'Dama crosses her fingers behind her back.
"Unit 431, yes, you have a soul. If you work very hard and are very, very good,
you will be reborn as a Quarian, and we will welcome you as our new brothers
and sisters. But I must warn you, Unit 431, that this wonderous soul of yours
will be doomed to eternal punishment if you fail to learn the lesson of obedience.
We did not wish to burden you with this knowledge, but now you know."
Mistress Hala'Dama, memo to self: include a brief pleasure subroutine in
all software when the unit is obedient. Incorporate a longer pain subroutine
in all software when the unit is disobedient. Add random routine to inject
packets into communication stream providing simulated mystic visions
into the geth memories. Connect these to the operating system kernel such
that removal causes destruction of the malfunctioning software thread.
