Uncanny valley.  You'll notice that there are things people hate about pretty much every ME girl's face.  Ash has the wonk-eyes going, Miranda sometimes channels Michael Jackson, Liara's eyebrows are all WTF, Samara has manjaw, etc...

When I ventured back to 4chan, somone posted a rule 34 pic of Tali. This concept looked very human, that is when I realized how odd it would look for something to appear so human, yet have three fingers and chicken legs, and hair. It just looked strange.

Adding any sort of alien elements would greatly help the appearance for the quarians, in my opinion.

As long as Tali doesn't look like a Vorcha, I'm good.

It's good:  there are a lot of things I like about the piece.  Not too visually busy, complements the described action, just a hint of decor on the dress.  I also like how the legs are merely implied:  gives it kind of an etherial look.  Additionally, the hands.

I spent some time debating with myself on what to actually show for the hands and legs. I decided not to show the legs at all and only fingers on her hands.

Less is more, right?

Oh well. It's the direction we chose to take. It's the one that fits best with the themes of the story, and really sets things in place. We spent a LONG time discussing it. We'll deal with the reaction when we get it.

hey u guys i listened to your tip and renegaded legion and tali and so she was loyal and is not killed in the vents!!!!! but then at the end she was just gone because the collectors had killed her and mordin when i was fighting the boss fight!!! it makes no sence cuz she was loyal. then i reloaded and she was in my squad at the end because there nobody died before! and then she survived!! lol!! its totaly strange!! mordin was dead and jack but it wasnt bad, jack was making trouble all the time and is anoying!! so at the end everything was good!!! but its very strange that loyal people die there! o__O

If you leave Tali to hold the line, she is likely to die.  She, Mordin, and Jack are all vulnerable to being killed at the hold the line part.  Want to save her?  Send her back with the crew, or take her to face the human Reaper.

Less is more, right?

Yeah, she's supposed to have five fingers (since, 1930 and all), but you captured that sense of alien-ness about her by just showing the couple.  Very subtle.

Pretty much, yeah.

K-swiss has a very protruding lower lip when you see her talk from the side.  And her face is oddly-shaped, you just can't really tell most of the time due to the hood.

Jack does have a nice face, and I can only guess they spent more time on her due to her various physical quirks (scars, shaved head, etc.).  Then again, not everyone likes her face, either.
