Writing.  Any of the fictional stuff you've been doing.  And what I mean is, do you just write whatever comes to mind first and clean it up later, or do you take it more slowly?  I'm experimenting with different ways to finish up "Smile" and would like some other viewpoints.

I think he's asking what steps or measures you take when writing an FF. Ex. Do you write it all out at once, and fix it up the same day? or do you do it all over a long period of time?

Personally, if you want my inquiry, write it all out, get your ideas on the paper, go through it and briefly touch it up, like spelling errors and such. Then go do something else, get your mind off it, take a day off. Then come back and re-read it. What I try to do is take enough time off so that everything that I typed isn't fresh in my mind. So when I go back to re-read it, say 2-3 days later, the material will look and read differently, because it's not as fresh, again.

Do this to simulate you being the reader and not the author, so when you see a mistake, or something that doesn't sound right, you can fix it then. Cause when you, or I at least, type it all out and try to touch it up, it's hard because everything will sound right in my mind.

Basically, it's the equivelent of 'stepping back' from your work and seeing the 'big picture'.

Depends on what I'm writing. I normally stick to short stories. I have an idea, and I write about it. easy.

With Reckoning, we have a list.

Chapter 1: Set Daro's situation up. Why is she on Caleston? Childhood.
Chapter 2: Racism. Sexism. Challenges of being quarian. Challenges of being Daro.
Chapter 3: Introduce Dray. Allow for development of relationship.

Ect. But beyond that no, I never really plan ahead or write anything down. I just go.

I'm basically doing that, yeah.  What I mean with experimenting is...well, I'm trying to get myself in the role of Tali, like I was an actor.  (And let's ignore the gender crap here - yeah, I'm a guy, but there are male authors who have successfully done this with a female protagonist, like in Memoirs of a Geisha.)  I'm trying to engulf myself in a role as if I was her in that scene.  And I'm wondering what the best way to go about writing the draft while doing that is.  Maybe stream-of-conciousness, maybe something else.  Dunno yet.

And I can taker her to the parade! Here in Albany, we have a parade in our neighborhood every year. My Dad actually started it when I was young, and the duty of organizing it was passed unto a nice Lesbian couple and friend of the family once I grew older and we moved. Still enjoy visiting it each year, and it's an excuse for free food and to catch up with friends I haven't seen in a while. Also throwing a graduation party the same day to be integrated into the fun.

The Statue of Liberty was rebuilt after being attacked by extremists, but was originally planned to use the original's head. Before they reattached the head, someone did a swap, and no one knew different. The original's head is in Hock's vault. A duplicate is on the current statue.
