And this is likely how it will happen. It doesn't take 5 days to get EVERYONE to agree to fight the reapers. It will take alot of time.  You will likely need to solve REALLY big problems:
-Geth vs. Quarians
-Krogan Unification
-The Council won't even agree until the reapers blow up a planet.
-Batarians don't like humans.
-Rachni may be easy, but they will need time to prepare.

Of course, I just don't think ME3 should start so many years, if a year at all, after ME2 or whatever expansion. Wth is Shepard going to do be doing? It's very easy for Bioware to make ME3 start relatively shortly after ME2. Shepard at the ending has the datapad which will surely help him against the Reapers.

I read the first thing writer of that fanfic said, I exited out instantly, just read that and lawled at how bad it was.

Those are all hypothetical questions. I really doubt something like that would occur. I wasn't really factoring in an expansion, and even then you could say the expansion was part of ME2. I prefer the continuation of the romance itself to be in ME3 rather than as DLC. Why? Because of continuity. I wouldn't mind some more activities or references to their relationship, though, but I'd rather wait for ME3 for the relationship to further, especially since ME3 will have a different context.

They are indeed hypothetical scenarios, but if they played out like that I would be perfectly fine with having a 3-5 year gap in between ME2 and ME3.  I know I am in the minority here but the Romance means less to me than strategy.  For instance, if I need a tech expert to stay behind on a doomed space station in order to do something important and legion wasn't available, Tali would be staying, end of story.  In the end, the mission is more important than my feelings.  By that logic it is more important to me that Wrex and the Rachni queen have enough time to do what they need to do between ME2 and the War, and if I need to sacrifice character development for that I will.
