What if the expansion was about the quarian geth conflict and the romance pack became a reality?  What if both of those things took place 2-3 years after ME2?  Would you be open to an ME3 that took place 3-5 years later?  Remember that Wrex still needs to get control of his krogan by the end of ME2 and that may take time to unite them and Shepard doesn't want to wait for that in ME3.  Remember thatt the Rachni have only had 2 years to rebuild their entire race and their fleet, giving them 3-5 years to finish that would go a long way.
?

Those are all hypothetical questions. I really doubt something like that would occur. I wasn't really factoring in an expansion, and even then you could say the expansion was part of ME2. I prefer the continuation of the romance itself to be in ME3 rather than as DLC. Why? Because of continuity. I wouldn't mind some more activities or references to their relationship, though, but I'd rather wait for ME3 for the relationship to further, especially since ME3 will have a different context.

They are indeed hypothetical scenarios, but if they played out like that I would be perfectly fine with having a 3-5 year gap in between ME2 and ME3.  I know I am in the minority here but the Romance means less to me than strategy.  For instance, if I need a tech expert to stay behind on a doomed space station in order to do something important and legion wasn't available, Tali would be staying, end of story.  In the end, the mission is more important than my feelings.  By that logic it is more important to me that Wrex and the Rachni queen have enough time to do what they need to do between ME2 and the War, and if I need to sacrifice character development for that I will.

We have Kasumi to leave behind now as a techi btw...

Depends what you mean by ME2. If you include that expansion pack as "ME2" then maybe I'd agree with you.

Of course, stopping the Reapers is more important than the romance, that much is clear, romance is really a sidequest that lasts less than 10 minutes. But I really don't think anyone wants the relationship to develop offscreen for so many years between ME2 and ME3 versus on screen shortly after ME2. After all, the relationship has just started.

The council will likely come around in ME3. That's what the build up has been, I think. Them being stubborn as hell and not listening in ME1 and ME2 is a plot element.

They damn well better. Either that or Shepard will just be tired of trying to convince them and let them sit in their ignorance.

Council knows Reapers exist, they have to keep up appearances to not cause panic. In ME3 Reapers will be eminent and Council will "light the signal fires" and get the support the council races.

On the Presidium in ME2 someone said if you decline the Council's offer to make you a spectre,  Tali tells you "we have to work together Shepard", so I need to save the council again and see what's up. Gotta do what Tali says afterall, eh?

No. You don't.

Just to laugh at it, yeah. But damn, that last one I'm never going to get out of my head. I literally felt like vomiting by the end. "I wanted to try something I saw on the vids..." :pinched:

Agreed.  Show someone a datapad with the diagram of a reaper, and im pretty sure they might start to concider helping a little more than they would.

Yea, that datapad will surely help. This time Shepard has actually data from within the Reaper and Reaper bases. On Virmire it was not really quite the same. If Shepard can show the datapad and prove that to the Council that the Reapers (or Geth "flagships") are coming, then the ball can start moving.

Oh my god, someone else agrees with me that the mission should come first!  I mean i still like having the relationship, it adds a sense of humanity to the game, but killing the reapers is the GOAL of the game, not seeing how good of a relationship you can have.

Not really.  Kasumi is like Garrus, techy, but not tech expert.  She can break into things but she can't hack through computer terminals like Legion or Tali can.  Just try sending her in the Vents on the suicide mission.

Yea, they can't avoid them now. Though I wonder what they will tell the public. Having chaos still wouldn't be good.

Tali is right. The Reapers won't be defeated if everyone is secluded from each other. There needs to be some cooperation.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Kasumi can survive the vents. I'm also sure that Tali is the better hacker, being an engineering genius (this is what her description says).

Kasumi survives the vents if she's loyal. I tried it. After all she's a master thief, she'll find a way in right?

Gonna have to disagree, master theives have to be well... masters at techalogical hacking and sabotoge etc. During the period of time they are in at least, where everything is run purely off technology and just just brute force, I mean, it seems like she is just as good as the others from her loyalty quest alone.
