Of course I'm talking about Xen! One of the more enjoyable parts of writing, for me at least, is building up a really great character and then tossing them into the fire.RiptideX1090 wrote...

Well...
If you actually enjoy what comes...
I don't know what to tell you.
Yeah...
We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

It's not reading it I enjoy so much as writing it. Putting a character through hell and writing how they feel, how they react and adapt. I love doing that stuff.Lividity Jones wrote...

Reading it can be fun as well if it's done well. I'm guessing that the Daro'Xen fic you guys are working on will be an enjoyable read, even if the subject matter itself is repulsive or otherwise unenjoyable (such as the way you tear her down).

I love character interaction! Seeing how characters react to their enviroments and to other characters is really awesome. I like getting into their heads and seeing how events around them change them, how it makes them feel, how they react to it.Battalion wrote...

That's sort of why I've been putting off reading it. I kind of want to wait until it's done so I don't freak out waiting for new chapters to be written

Well, we've pretty much discussed everything there is about Tali, so now we're doing the next best thing.

Nah.
Tali's still number one.
I'm looking forward to writing more of her and Shep once Reckoning is finished.

I love both equally which is a big part of the reason my inability to write an ME2 story is absolutely maddening.Someone With Mass wrote...
I like to read more than write, because then I can see things from a different perspective.
The biggest part of my problem is I generally don't work with canon characters other than possibly having them in lesser roles or supporting roles where they don't really show up for very long. I'm much more comfortable writing about my own characters, but I have ideas for canon character stories and not so much for original characters for the Mass Effect universe
Plus, I want to write about geth, which decreases the possible character pool substantially.

The Mass Effect story viewed from the geth side would actually be pretty interesting.

Well, more specifically, I want to write about their evolution as a sentient race. I really want to explore the seemingly emotional responses Legion has throughout the game and build upon that idea. What is it like to experience emotions for the first time? What emotions would you feel early on? How would what you feel change over time as you begin to understand what is happening to you?Someone With Mass wrote...

Tied into this, I also want to explore the slightly complex relationship between Legion and Tali. I want to have them needing to work together and how over the course of the story that constant proximity changes both of their opinions of the other. I want to show Tali learning something about the geth that she never knew, something that is powerful enough to change her opinion--not all at once, mind you, but a gradual change over time as she notices more things that surprise her.

Oh, it is. I know what I want to do, it's just.. getting it working, setting the stage, putting everything into play, all the basics just aren't falling into place how they should. Every time I try to write it, I hit a block. I can describe it all day long until I'm blue in the face, but putting it to prose is proving to be absolutely frustrating.Tairis Deamhan wrote...
