I don't see it as out of character for her to become friendly, just don't think it would be easy/quick.Kikaimegami wrote...
Plus, there's the other part of it... Most people believe it would be out of character for Tali to even become friendly with Legion or to lose her hate for the geth as a whole. I want to write it in such a way that not only does it sound plausible and not contrived, but also keep her in character throughout the entire story. I need to really get into her head and dig in, which I'm not sure if I have a good hold of just yet.
Actually, if any of you know of good Tali stories in which she remains in character throughout and are good examples of how to write her, I'd love to read them.
Why?! Why do people do this? I have stories I wrote when I was a teenager. I've not deleted them and in fact keep them archived. Part of becoming a good writer is being able to look back at things you've written in the past and see how you've changed, pick out the ways in which you've become better, look for trends that need work, or cliches in your own writing that aren't immediately noticeable.Arhka wrote...
Hades' Dogs on FF.net was good, but the author deleted it out of frustration...

It is not out of character to become 'allies'. Allies can put aside differences and work towards a common goal.

Marines (or other squads who are in combat) syndrome?Kikaimegami wrote...
Oh, I don't plan on it being a romance story at all. That isn't my goal.
I'm not sure how to explain what I'm wanting to do. I want for them to become not just friends, but.. more. I don't mean "more" in a romantic sense at all. It would be akin to how you love your family, how you trust them and how they are your friends as well as your family.

Considering she has a dialogue in the game that is basically 'okay, here have some unclassified data so we can work together' it seems very much in character for her to learn to ally with the geth if Shepard helps encourage it.
Someone she can trust alot like Shepard?Kikaimegami wrote...

I've not heard that term before, but if it's what I think it sounds like, then yeah, possibly. Do you happen to have a wiki link for what you mean?Runescapeguy9 wrote...

Exactly. The kind of bond that forms and grows from going through hell together, understanding each other, and learning about each other in ways normal friends don't necessarily do.Someone With Mass wrote...
Like a certain level of trust that someone wouldn't expect from those two?

I don't have a link. Just the "I trust you with my life, bro" sort of feeling.Kikaimegami wrote...

Yeah, definitely some of that. That's not the only thing, but it would be a level of trust deep enough to know the other has your back no matter what and never have to question it.Runescapeguy9 wrote...

Plus, if anyone would be able to tell me I have Tali OOC, it would be you.
That's actually part of what I am going to work with. To Legion, it's simply a given that he'd do everything in his power to make sure Tali doesn't come into any harm (especially if she and Shepard are exceptionally close). That would be one of the things she discovers that surprises her, most notably in the context of her having threatened to shoot him in the AI Core not all that long ago. She simply assumes [direct control] he intends some form of ill will against her for the sheer fact that he's geth and she's quarian and that's just how things are.Someone With Mass wrote...
I don't think Legion can let Tali down. It would disrupt the efficiency of the group. And I think he of all people wouldn't like that to happen.
