Considering my father is a good 15 years older than my mother, I don't think half a decade is much of a big deal :P

Just got Thane in my party. I'm really digging his voice - it's like he smoked a thousand packs of cigarettes before breakfast. This update belongs in this thread because I took Tali to get him. Also got Samara...now I'm waiting to get jumped by the guys who want to take my crew...

I don't understand this. The only time she comes off as being young/immature is when you've already started the romance.

Well, we know that's not true, because Shala says that she had known Rael for 25-30 years.

They are roughly the same as humans in age expectancy...

I never saw anything saying how long a Quarian lives, where'd you find your info?

Same here. When there's 25-30 years between them, that's when it's getting a little questionable.

She's 24. He's really 29. 5 years is too old?

Shepard's really 31. He really is. Being declared dead did not move his birthdate up by two years.

But I don't care about the age difference between the two. I've seen larger age differences in relationships that worked well enough.

Been so long I don't even remember. Possibly the codex, not sure. Both of them live to be 150 at best if I remember correctly.

Ok, well mentally and physically-grown he is 29. His body just rotted for two years -_-
But you're right. It doesn't matter.

I never understood the whole little sister thing that gets thrown a lot either.  I could definitely see it after ME1, she was naive in that game, and came across young because of her place in life.  She had basically just left home for the first time, and was seeing the real world for the first time.  Now?  That's long gone, she's a special force leader, and one of the most capable quarians in the galaxy.  She's fully grown up.  She comes across as younger at the start of the romance because she's never had romantic feelings for anyone else.  Just because most people get their first relationship out of the way when they are younger, doesn't link the experience to a perceived age.

People will think what they want though.

He was born 31 years before ME2. That does not make him 31 biologically.

I'm gonna have to go with this.  The man did not physically age two years.  And really, when you're dead, why count birthdays, which are social guidelines?

Biologically, Shepard was dead for 2 years, he's a cybrog now.

Mentally I'm about twelve and physically I'm completely falling apart dead, but my age is my age. :P

But having said all that, I'm not entirely sure if I buy Tali has being 24. I know the website shows her age as 24, but it also says Grunt is 22, Mordin is 50, Samara is 600, and Zaeed is 40. If we're going to a direct correlation of quarian ages to human, I'd say Tali was about 18 when she was sent off to her Pilgrimage because I view the Pilgrimage as the quarian college experience. Even if that puts her at 20 and Shepard at 31, that's not anywhere catastrophic.

What's wrong with those ages? Grunts is physically, not mentally, of course, but the rest make sense.

Maturity varies from culture to culture. In some cultures, it's 13. In others, it's 18. And still other's, it's 21. In this case, it's 22 for the Quarians. Aside from her voice, I didn't notice anything particularly "young" about Shepard. I think people hear the voice and therefore project unto her. Of all of the squad mates in the game, I would consider Jack easily the most immature mentally, given her unnecessary aggression and apparent lack of education, as well as her inexperience in the "real world," so to speak.

Because then a 20 year-old born on February 29th can claim being five even though that person still lived for twenty rotations around the Sun. But then again, Leap Year babies do tend to go with the oddity of their birthday and run with it.

Physical age is meaningless. Your physical age could be drastically different from someone of the same biological age as you, but you don't get to delete years from your biological age because of it. You could be declared dead for 4 minutes, that doesn't make you 4 minutes younger when they revive you.

Pilgrimage =/= College.  In one your still learning a lot of things about life, the pilgrimage is a trial by fire.  If you go into the pilgrimage with the readiness that the average 18 year old goes into college, you're dead.  They have much more intense training and preparation, and college seems a lot more equatable to the 4 years of preparation before they leave on their pilgrimage to me.  The way I see it, the quarians do have college, we don't see the first 4 years, and the pilgrimage is the final test before graduation.

Also, that age listing is supposed to be the human equivalent.  Since quarians and humans have the same lifespan, it just stays the same.
