In complete honesty and at most truth on my part... if I was in that situation, and it was guaranteed not to create morbid, retarded kids... I'd probably man up and do it. Probably. But they would have to put me under with goddamn moose tranquilizers before hand.

This subject is creepy. Why can't we talk about quarians smelling like cherrys again?

EDIT: On second thought, screw it man, I'd rather adopt than do that sh-t.

Why the hesitation?  If we suppose that Shepard and Tali care deeply about each other, why would a child that contained genetic elements of each be so bad?  I don't see it.

As for Quarians smelling like cherries - probably not.  They consume protein paste.  Humans that consume a diet strongly oriented toward proteins do NOT smell like cherries. Image IPB

Mysterious alien biology to the rescue.  Who's to say that something in the quarian systems don't make protein smell like cherries? :wizard:

No one's saying its likely, more like it just won't be confirmed false, so why not believe what you want.  Fiction kicks ass like that ^_^

Quarians smell like cherries, and Garrus tastes like mountain dew.

It doesn't make sense, but really, do you want it to? ;)

But what do quarians taste like? That's the real question.

They can easily make artificial smells, but I bet Shep walked around for a week with a soar throat and said that everything he ate suddenly had this sugar sweet taste.

Nothing scientific, I just like to think so.Image IPB

I walk into this thread and I see people talking about eating quarians. Reminds me... would that be considered cannibalism because quarians are sapient or does cannibalism only apply to other members of the same species in 2185?

Not eating, tasting. As in what a quarian kiss would taste like.

A great deal of this is likely known to you guys, but my Massive Science Project has progressed to the point where I can infer various details about Tali's role during the final mission.

-----

If you'd like to hear Tali give a status report on the defense, she comes after Thane -> Jack -> Garrus -> Legion -> Grunt -> Jacob -> Samara -> Mordin.

Hear Tali disagree with keeping the base
:
1) Thane -> Samara -> Tali
1a) Bring her with a squadmate who agrees with keeping the base (Garrus, Grunt, Legion, Mordin, Zaeed)
2) Choose the BOTTOM LEFT ("You think it can help?") option

Catch Tali falling down the platforms:
1) Tali's icon must be on the RIGHT
2) If you need to reload during the final battle, make sure Tali's icon is still on the RIGHT

To have Tali pull Shepard up onto the Normandy, the order in which squadmates will pull up Shepard:
Miranda -> Zaeed -> Kasumi -> Tali
The squadmates pulling Shepard up onto the Normandy are from the final fight. If one dies, the other one will then pull Shepard up. If both die, it will be someone who survived the defense.

The project is a little extreme, but after discussions on who catches whom and just coming off research for the completed suicide mission guide, I figured why the hell not. So now you know all you need to keep Tali alive and orchestrate her/your rescue.

Appreciate it, but it's not hard to get everyone through and have your target die.

Oh, and if I want to hear Tali's opinion on keeping the base, I'm just saying it, right? Because I just want to hear her say it, and then say: "Nah, you're right, Tali. Let's blow this thing and go home."

I'm not sure I hate anyone. Miranda is an egomaniac but I don't HATE her. Zaeed is a crappy excuse for a soldier who was willing to sacrifice many lives but he can be a badass at times. Jack is violent and annoying but she's misunderstood. So who's a prime example... Actually Miranda because I hate how BW gave her plot armor and made HER prime among the squad. Plus it would be challenging.

So I was standing in the elevator in ME1 and Tali slowly turns her head and stares at me for like ten seconds then snaps it away. I was like, "Why can't I tell her the truth about my feelings for her?!"

Several reasons.

A) "You know... this whole thing with the suits and the amino acids..."
B) "She's going to have to go back to the Fleet sometime..."
C) "There's no way she'd be interested in a punk kid / hick colonist / navy brat like me..."
D) "Just how old is a pilgrim anyway? I know she's twenty-something, but if I started hitting on a twenty-something year old Asari, I'd be drug out into the street and shot. If I started hitting on a twenty-something year old Salarian -not that I would or anything- I'd be a grave robber. If I say something I could start some kind of weird interspecies age thing and there's no real genteel way of asking 'Hey Tali, are you legal?'"
E) "Ash / Liara really care about me anyway... oh well. Ships passing in the night and all that. *sniff* It's... it's not like I'll regret this down the line or anything...:crying:"

Or at least it's a combination of all of the above for my Shepard. Damn shame what's going to happen to Ash in ME3...

Also, I too have been replaying Mass Effect. I'd thought I'd gotten to hear all of Tali's lines and was effectively d'awww-proof (a necessary quality in recreating a lost savegame where I romanced Ash before saving for ME2), but then we got to Ilos.

Tali: *dripping with sarcasm* Okay, who votes we take the vehicle into the creepy alien cave filled with geth?
Shepard: Oh god, take me now.
Wrex: I really don't mind, but Ash is going to kill you.
Shepard: Damn. Guess we'll have to cross that bridge after we kill Saren.

Actually, it wasn't so much about keeping her alive as it was the final portion of the guide, which is who will catch who or say what. I just added the other stuff because if I'm going to talk about Tali's role during the suicide mission, might as well list everything.

But nevermind then.

Maybe Gecko-like skin.

Had to comment on this.  So I was reading about arid environment evolution.  You may be closer than you know.  Many lizard like creatures in arid environments have skin designed to absorb water from the air through their skin.  Considering the "fog" in quarian suits, this could be an explanation for this.

This is also true of turians, I am guessing. With the higher radiation present on their planets, I am guessing the turian homeworld is also significantly more arid as well. Since turians do seem to be modeled after chitinous creatures (closest desert equivalent would be a scorpion), I could definitely see quarians modeled after a lizard like predator. Especially with the legs and hands.

If this theory about absorption is correct, it would also explain the lower body temperature theory some of us fans like to use in the fiction. ~_^ As their skin would absorb moisture, the skin would naturally be cooler to the touch than humans.

Just a thought.

I guess Tali got sick of those elevator rides, because they reeked ignorance.

Every time she was with someone like Garrus, she got some pretty stupid questions or comments, like how her suit lacks armor and how she should use something else instead of her helmet. That would get pretty tiresome after a while.
