Really? I love Legion, but he was in the wrong, IMO. He's right to want to protect his race but he shouldn't hack someone's personal property to do so (theft). So technically Tali is protecting her property here. That said, Tali (and Legion) should have both contacted Shepard before doing what they did. I sided with Tali and then apologized to Legion (though I think that using charm to resolve the fight is equally good).

I don't know, if I were made aware of there being data like that on someone's computer that could mean the difference between my entire race surviving or being destroyed, I think I could justify hacking into it.

From What I remember what Tali said they only share low level programming run time but not Sensory data. So I don't think they would be sharing that kind of data over their network. If they did something broke the norm.

They upload to the geth database, which all of them have access to. I didn't mean on the fly sensory data, but important bits of information picked up along the way that they deem important enough to let everyone else know.

This still suggest that had curiosity another sign of sentiance.

But I think you might be worried more that this theory could be harmful to Legion, whom you seem to have a enfatuation with. This doesn't because even something born of evil or malicontent can lead to something good. This is why I pointed out why only some of the geth followed Sovereign though a little to his discust because of the worship, something they learned from the quarians. This is something Sovereign didn't see coming which means the geth would be very likely be a big help in the coming battle.

Rael and his team are both dead. They can't really continue the experiments. And the Quarian government is considering war, they haven't declared or started it yet. Just considering (which they've probably been doing for the three centuries they've been wandering anyway).

Legion's perfectly right to warn his people (as in watch out, keep your guard), but not to endanger the Quarians and hack someone's personal property while doing so. Both Legion and Tali know that the Geth knowing the location of the Flotilla would result in war (as the Geth would seek retribution, by Legion's own admission). 

Basically, Legion should have contacted Shepard and not tried to steal property. Tali should have informed Shepard before turning a gun on Legion. They both have done things wrong (Legion: theft, possibly starting a war, Tali: not talking to Shepard), but I don't think siding with Tali is so bad. Just IMO.
