Working on the opening for Coup a challenge/project that i hope someone might see fit to take on.

“Are we certain that this is the right thing to do?” Han’Gerrel asked of the other admirals as they looked upon their copy of the datapad. “If we agree to support this, if we agree to commit to this war, our entire race might bear the consequences.”
“That’s odd.” Zaal’Koris chided him from across the table. “I’d have thought you’d jump at the chance to go to war.”
“With the Geth certainly.” Han frowned at his political rival. “But this is far more dangerous. Say we fail? Say this plot is foiled.”
“It is not a decision to be made lightly.” Daro’Xen agreed scanning her eyes over the document.
“But the principle behind this choice must be upheld.” They turned seeing the normally silent Shala’Raan adding her signature to the document. “I submit a vote in favor of war.”
Han blinked before chuckling from behind his mask. “Well, what are they going to do? Ostracize us again?” He clicked his message of assent into the datapad. “Let’s do it.”
Koris nodded as he added his own name to the document. “There comes a time when someone has to say enough. I say that time is now.”
Xen nodded as she added the final curve to her name. “Far be it for me to defend what does not work.”
“Then it is decided.” Shala’Raan sent the fully signed document back to the Normandy. “We will go to war.”
“We judge in favor of supporting Shepard-Commander.” The one thousand one hundred and eighty three voices that inhabited the platform designated “Legion” submitted to the Geth communion. The consensus had been reached to add this recommendation after the analysis of the document Shepard-Commander requested sent to the Geth commune.
There was a pause for a fraction of a second as they other processes considered this and responded with the simple message of “Clarify.”
“Observation: Shepard-Commander allied himself with the True Geth against the Old Machines; the government body designated as the “Citadel Council” has judged his actions in preparation for Old Machine assault to be threatening to their continued control over the galaxy. We judge that their removal from power is preferable to risk of preemptive assault.”
The rest of the geth considered this, several million processes agreed with this viewpoint though others disagreed. “Observation: This course of action confirms Council suspicion of treasonous activities.”
“Counterpoint: Attempt on Shepard-Commander’s life has already been attempted by Williams-Operative under orders of Anderson-Councilor. We judge a ninetieth percentile probability of subsequent assassination attempts if no action is taken.” Legion paused for a fraction of a second as it considered something. “Addendum: This platform intends to assist Shepard-Commander regardless of consensus reached.”
The geth commune was silent hundreds of millions of programs considering and matching viewpoints together. The billions of Geth spoke as one to the platform. “Total Consensus achieved.”
“We will assist Shepard-Commander.”
Morinth laughed. She laughed and she laughed hard. The man had a quad; that much was certain. Oh the look on the Council’s faces when they saw every mistake they’d made in the past coming back to haunt them. She wondered at times how far ahead he planned things like this. After defeating the Collectors he’d sent her to infiltrate the highest levels of the Eclipse mercenary band. It hadn’t been hard, nor had it been difficult to rise up to become the infamous Jona Sederis’s right hand.
And all the while she was bringing the Eclipse lieutenants under her sway, making them fear and adore her all while keeping her true nature a secret. Only when he gave the order did she make her move, consuming Jona and taking command of one of the three greatest mercenary armies in the galaxy. Oh there was resistance, superstitious fools who thought they could stop her; they were put down and made examples of.
All things considered, the coup was smooth, efficient and absolutely brilliant. Particularly how he made it known to her soldiers that in no uncertain terms he called the real shots and that as power as she was, she would come to heel if he gave the order. She didn’t like this fact in the slightest, but when it came down to it she knew it was true. Only he was completely immune to her mindgames, only he was able to resist her advances completely as he seemed perfectly content in remaining with his quarian pet.
She sighed, signing the datapad and sending it back to Shepard before sending out a signal to all eclipse Mercs to begin preparation for war.
This would be an event for the ages.
