I always used babynames.com whenever I had problems like that. It's how several people in my various fics got their names.
I'm currently designing my very own character, as a personal project. Actually based some of her design on Tali... gave her a kickass name.
Janan Khalidah. Means "Immortal Soul".
So much better than Jane Smith. <_<

I have been considering writing a story about an original character, what bothers me is that some may try to make connections to characters we already know. Daddy issues being one of them.RiptideX1090 wrote...

Who doesn't have daddy issues in Mass Effect?
Huh?
No. I didn't mean a fan character for Mass Effect... if that's what you're implying.
She has NOTHING to do with Mass Effect.
And as for fancharacters that do have daddy issues... I hate hate that.
Then again, I'm not big on fan characters in general...

Who doesn't have daddy issues in Mass Effect?
According to the loyalty missions; no one. Hell even Grunt who technically didn't even have parents had daddy issues.

A while back, I posted up some images that reimagine the ME characters as if they were in a Pulp-era novel, with Shepard as the primary character. This is what I've been working on. I'm currently working on adapting the characters to the setting. Once I've gotten most of my work done and have a few stories plotted and scripts written, I'm wanting to make a series of audio-dramas centered around the adventures of John Shepard, his sister Jane, and their efforts to stop the vile Dr. Arterius from raising the lost city of Atlantis in an effort to revive the Reapers.cannedcream wrote...

Kaiden: Talked about his father, who seemed to dissaprove of him joining the military or something.
Ashley: Granddad was a "traitor". dad was blacklisted and died.
Wrex: Look at his scars.
Garrus: I just KNOW we're meeting Vakarian Sr. in Three...
Tali: Don't get me started...
Jacob: Rapist.
Miranda: Genetic Rapist, human supremacist, control freak ****.
Jack: Raised by Cerberus. Do the math.
Grunt: Genetically ****ed by his "Dad" to be a soulless super soldier.
Samara: She's a mother trying to kill her daughter.
Thane: A lousy excuse for a father.
Legion: His parents want to shoot him in the face. A lot.
It seems only Zaeed, Kasumi, and Mordin are without daddy issues...

I'm counting that stuff with the heretic group. That whole 'how could we have become so different' thing.
Or maybe that would be more of a self-crisis since they are all geth.

-------------------------------------
The clock upon the bedside read 22:28, but to Tali and Shepard, the night had just begun. With the Collectors defeated, they had earned some relaxation. Tali lay beside Shepard, her hand draped across his chest, content to remain in such a position forever. Shepard, however, dropped a question.“Tali, why are quarian envrio-suits so... snug?”
The question hung in the air for several seconds, before Tali quickly alighted from her resting postion. Standing beside the bed, hands upon her hips, she stared at him in indignation before answering.
“Why do banks post quarterly statements?” Her response caught Shepard in the cognative flank. He cocked his head, stammering out a response.
“I-I don’t... know...” His voice was marked with a tone of bewilderment. Where the hell was she going with this?
Tali smiled, although her mask prevented Shepard from noticing. Her voice, however, held a playful ring to it. “Banks post quarterly statements for the same reason we quarians wear such tight suits. To show off our assets.”

I thought it was lost forever when I wiped my old harddrive. Thanks google!

That we know of.
Since Kasumi and Zaeed didn't get conversations with Shepard like the rest of the crew, there's still the chance.

True, but he did fight and kill his own father. A father who set him up on scared ground for an ambush.
