Clarity is achieved when traditionalist idiots "officially" define a word. That Ir- makes it's root a double negative is immaterial in terms of definition, only in etymology. The fact that we're having this conversation at all is evidence of my point.


A day may come when everybody says irregardless and it's in every dictionary and published novels use it and nobody finds that odd at all. It wouldn't surprise me. That day is not today. Today, "irregardless" is firmly in the "people kept fucking it up so much that most people just let it slide now" camp.



I don't believe in changing things for no reason. If the change happens anyway, then I'm nobody to say "NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT". It hasn't happened anyway yet.
