That's exactly the kind of response I was trying to avoid. When I asked the Garrus thread, I knew they'd say he could work with anyone. And I agree. I agree Tali could adapt to a wide variety of teams.Kikaimegami wrote...
Honestly, I think Tali could learn to get along with anybody as long as they are willing to prove that they're worth it. An optimal squad could be just about anyone, really. She just seems to me like someone who can put personal prejudices aside for the greater good as long as the people she needs to work with prove themselves to be trustworthy through actions and behavior.
But there are always situations that make someone truly shine in every way. The personalities match. The tactics compliment each other. Their strategies align.
There could indeed be more than two people with whom Tali can find that sort of synergy. In which case, I wouldn't mind hearing about each of them and why they bring out the best in Tali's abilities and vice versa.
Garrus and Tali are good friends, but is friendship foremost the key in creating a well-oiled machine? It's a very important part, but not every squadmate that Shepard has recruited has tight friendships with others and yet they must work as a team. You'd have to find the squadmate that brings out the best in that person when friendship isn't going to be the glue that holds them together.
But beyond friendship, I do think Garrus and Tali make for a good team because they work at two different ranges and their tech skills compliment each other nicely. The only part that would give them difficulty would be going up against a biotic. Not saying they couldn't do it, just that they'd have to be a bit more creative in the approach versus a squad that had biotics with them.
And I specifically excluded Shepard because Shepard is the glue that holds any squad together. It's a given. Adding him into the mix is a crutch.
Tali's a shotgun user. She's a tech. She specializes in hacking mechs and eating away at shields. I don't feel she's a great coordinator of attacks, which is something I think Garrus brings to the trio. I like the idea of Kaidan filling out the trio because he is also a tech. He also brings that needed attack and defense against biotics. I think all three of them work best when personalities aren't going to clash, and Kaidan is a cool customer. Both Tali and Garrus can use that because they do have their tempers.

Hello rage.
Are you writing any new fanfic?
In my own work experience, I got along extremely well with some of my coworkers, but it was the one with whom I didn't get along with the best where I actually exceled more in my abilities. We challenged each other, demanded more from each other, kept each other working at 100% in a way such that neither of us would question we weren't giving all we had to the job at hand. We also didn't dislike each other at all, we had respect for each other, we just weren't as good friends as I was with others. That didn't mean I didn't work well with my other coworkers, but one in particular I felt brought out the best in me.TheAwesomologist wrote...

As to what her relationships are with those other squad-mates, I could honestly care less. They're all there to follow orders from me, leave the personal issues at home. That said I imagine most people are friendly but reserved around Samara, perhaps out of of fear that they may incriminate themselves or just our of respect. I think it was LJ (may have been Rip) who wrote a mini-fic where Grunt expresses his loyalty to Tali because she's his battlemaster's mate. That works for me, I could see it. And Garrus is basically a brother from another mother at this point in the game.

No one wants to bite on bad Tali limericks?

The same is true when having to work with any team. It's not about being on friendly terms all the time. It's about who gets everything you can and then some. Perhaps Tali does work best with Legion because she must feel that she can overcome the seeming superiority of the geth in combat. Perhaps Miranda makes Tali want to work all that much more to show, regardless of her feelings for Cerberus, she has what it takes to put such feelings aside and make it work. Perhaps she doesn't work well with Grunt because she prefers a surgical strike and Grunt is anything but.
Combat situations, no. But life-threatening situations, yes.Thelacan wrote...
But take note that you don't run daily in a dangerous situations like the characters from ME do. (At least I assume you don't!)
The need for the trust and knowledge of each other is vital in there. While in normal work conditions trying to out-do other may be a good motivation, I don't think it would have the same effect on the battlefield. Because trying to go solo will get you killed easily.
