I liked that presentation. After playing ME1 again, i've come to realize that I don't miss the inventory whatsoever.
That's not a suprise.
What I did find suprising was just how much better the dialog was. People emote more, act more smoothly, walk around a bit, and generally do much more than stand, make handmotions with Shepard, and stare him directly in the eyes the whole time.
I shudder to think how a Talimance in ME1 would've played out if she never moved from her station the whole time.

Still, going from the workstation to the drive core just a few feet away isn't much of an improvement.
They should make it so she's wandering here and there on the same deck in ME3. Not so I have to spend five minutes searching for her, but just so I can see her somewhere else, giving me the image that she's not working her sweet ass off all the time.

On another note, time to post a teaser snippet for what I am working on.
-----------
"Sounds like a plan," Shepard replied. He turned on his comm unit. "Miranda, Garrus. We're proceeding to the generators to try and get this place running again. We'll keep you posted." With a gesture, the three headed to the bunker. As the trio walked to the bunker, Zaeed looked around at the emptiness before huffing once and lighting a cigar.
"Y'know, this takes me back to a mission from 'bout ten years ago," the mercenary began as they walked. "Me and a team got sent to a place called Torfan, after some batarians got through with it. By the time we hit planet side, everything that wasn't a soldier looked dead or just gone. Thought it was empty. Kind of like here, but with bodies." He took a hit of his cigar. "We were wrong though; it wasn't deserted."
He looked over at Shepard. "Turns out, the fighting had just moved underground. In a bunker, the last of the batarians had been holed up. We advanced on the location, and my team finally rendezvoused with the soldier in charge."
-----------
And the writing shall continue.

That would mean making multiple animations and angles for any spot she could be walking around in Engineering.
Unless the conversations worked like in Dragon Age, Kotor, and Jade Empire.

Of course it's an improvement. Walking out of earshot of Ken and Gabby makes the conversation personal. Whereas having the talk within several feet of Engineer Adams just wouldn't have been the same.
Also, under what set of circumstances would she not be working her sweet ass off all the time? That's what that switch in Shepard's Cabin is for: when she isn't working her ass off.
