Shepard: Hi, Tali.  Do you have a moment?

Tali: What?  *Distracted by something on her omni-tool, she turns around to face Shepard.*  Oh, sorry.  I was kind of...slacking off a bit.  It's just that this GalaxyHack game you bought for me is really addicting.  But I promise, no more until I'm off from work.

Shepard: I'm just glad you like it so much.

Tali: I do!  It's so small and yet it has a large variety of equipment and starships...I can't stop trying to pick up everything I find.  Even though some of it kills me because it's broken.  You should give it a try.

Shepard: You know I don't play vid games that much, Tali.  I used up all my talent on cooking.

Tali: Oh, come on, Shepard, it'll be fun.  I'll help you play it until you get used to it, how about that?

Shepard: All right.  After work, though.

Tali: Of course.  *She steps closer to Shepard, leans her chin close to his ear, and whispers.*  See you upstairs, Captain...

They had done it. Stopped the Collectors, destroyed the base. The shore team had all survived. Shepard had even rescued the entire crew. Everyone had survived against impossible odds. It was surreal.

"Did this all just happen?" Garrus asked from his position on the wall. "How does Shepard keep pulling all of this off? Even with me, it shouldn't be possible," he continued with a laugh. "I can only do so much of his job for him."

Tali laughed at Garrus. At least his sense of humor had improved. Tali's laughter trailed off as the full impact of everything they had accomplished - no, what Shepard had led them through - was felt. And she had her answer for the turian.

"It's because he's a Hero," she said quietly. Garrus looked over for a moment. He nodded and his mandibles flared.

"A hero, huh," he said slowly. "I can see that." He grinned. "Guess that makes me the sidekick," he added, then his eyes narrowed slyly. "Would that make you the, what's the human word, dame in distress?"

Tali's eyes narrowed. "You bosh'tet!" she nearly growled at him. She glared for another moment, before she started to giggle. Garrus joined in the laughter.

Glad to hear. A little line I dabbled with in the FF I'm writing. Shepard realizes why Tali always rests her head on his chest.

To listen to his heart.

Tali enjoyed laying in bed with Shepard like this. Placing her head against his chest, the audio enhancers of her helmet could clearly pick up his heart beat, a deep rhythm Tali had found soothing her to sleep more than once. Even though Tali could not kiss him whenever she wished or run her fingers through his short hair, she could always listen. That was a pleasure all on it's own.

From chapter two of Last Son.
