For what it's worth, the AI of the goons in FEAR can be an unpleasant surprise at times.Collider wrote...
Heh. After Mass Effect, it's sometimes hard to play other shooters. They can feel hollow and meaningless. Because I enjoy the dialog option customization of Mass Effect far too much.
I did get plenty of playtime from Perfect Dark on XBLA though. Though the only reason I bought that was because of the nostalgia.

No she didn't. It surprised me. In a good way. I don't think she was under any delusions that the Admiralty Board was perfect in ME1, but I noticed the character development - she's become more pessimistic and has more realistic views about the government. After her pilgrimage, she was subjected to several missions, and the fact that so much was lost made her question the validity of the Admiralty Board's commands and whether the supposed goals of each mission were worth the lives of those who worked for. Not to mention she presumably was not informed as to why she was being sent on certain missions - such as the one on Haestrom. That's definitely going to be a factor. It's like the soldier who doesn't know what she's fighting for.SpatFieya wrote...
Probably, that or enlightened her on how incompetent that can be. She didn't seem to think that highly of them on Haestrom.Collider wrote...

Would you rather some of the other things we discuss? Drooling over particular characters? I think I am bringing up a conversation that is not really brought up much in this thread - the death of any idealism that Tali has for the Quarian government. It was pretty much shattered when she realized how manipulating and shrewd they were. Given the Quarian emphasis on family, it's very possible that she did not think of the Admirals in the same way as we think of politicians. Normally, your family members don't use you carelessly for ulterior motives - or at least in the same barely apologetic manner as the Admirals had.Azint wrote...

I'm in the second story of a building. Moving slowly through the room, I head over to the staircase. Looking down over the railing, A GODDAMN enemy comes leaping towards my face.
I'm not sure if that was some awesome scripting (because how often would be actually do that for full scripting to be worth it), or just a lucky AI decision, but it scared me like no other game.
Unless of course you count Condemned. That game is a masterpiece of horror. Don't even get me started on the Gym teacher in the locker...

Fear 2 had me under constant worry that a psychic, undead, mutilated, poltergeist with the mind of a child would have her way with me. I would say that experience alone is what made the game worth playing.
Also about Fear 2; melee fight, hand to hand, fighting over a shotgun.
