It could have been one of the paragon options you chose at the beginning, like telling her it wasn't her fault, or thanking her.
Even just that sets off the interest I think and she ends up chasing you for your gratitude<_<

That's what I figure.  I can't bear to have my Shepard be a dick unless the person truly deserves it.  That's my problem with ME: I can't play Shepard's anger as the cool, reserved fury I imagine him to use.

I just kinda go neutral in those situations. You're not really an ass, but not really triggering anything either

Bah!  Paragon Shepards would not/should not cheat.  Hence why my Colonist/War Hero Sentinel did not romance anyone, then romanced Tali.  Only way to play it.  (Also have an Earthborn/War Hero Infiltrator that stayed faithful to Ashley).

ME1 the only way not to romance anyone on board, is pretty much be a total ass to LIs berate them as much as possible and never completment them. If all else fails a save game editor will help, but it will work only for your second playthough if you use the ME2 Save editor.

I want a happy ending, where all races come together, with the quarians and the geth and everyone to get a seat on the Council. I want an ending where the Humans and the Quarians rule over the universe with a geth enslaved army. I want an ending with the Human Empire, using Reaper technology to subjugate EVERYONE. I want an ending where the Reapers win.

I want an ending where Shepard finds peace on Rannoch. I want an ending where Shepard and Garrus spend the rest of their lives on Omega as a vigilante Team. I want an ending where they become spectres and travel the universe. I want an ending where Tali is an admiral. I want an ending where she takes over the quarian government, with Shepard's help. I want an ending where Jack wipes out Cerberus. I want an ending where she finds peace. I want an ending where she blows her own brains out. I want an ending where Shepard lives. I want an ending where he dies.

I want an ending where squadmates commit suicide, endings where they live, endings where they save Shepard, endings where the Rachni show up, the Migrant fleet arrives, where Wrex storms the field with a krogan horde, where Samara leads a Justicar army against the Reapers, where squadmates betray you, or love you.

I want endings were some races are brought to heel or are left extinct. I want endings were some ascend to something more. I want all of that, combinations, and more. So much more.

I want it to feel like that at the end of the trilogy... it's YOUR universe, and what happened at the end of it is YOUR doing. Where your actions had consequences, good or bad, that you have to live with. I want everything to just cascade into wildly different directions, so that NO ONE comes out of it the same way. That would be...

Perfect.

Man, I can't do that.  Not only is that not how my Shepard is supposed to act, but I hate being such a mean dick in real life :V  I mean, I can be blunt and judgmental, but I try not to be outwardly cruel to others.
