It's true, but Tali (understandably) seems to be excusing the Quarians from their guilt. The Quarians had a hand in this. The Geth had a right to defend themselves. What makes the Morning War not a black and white issue is the fact that AI was illegal and that the Geth nearly comitted genocide on the Quarians themselves. They are both at fault for not even attempting to communicate peace.

The issue in this statement is that the Geth did not think "genocide", they came to the conclusion that the Quarians would continue to fight back. If you are locked in a battle with someone, and you have no way of knowing EXACTLY how they are going to respond to you laying down arms (and the worst case scenario, along with being probable, in that situation is the Quarians utilize that instance to shut them down for good),

That doesn't excuse the Geth from killing women and children. Which they did. Which is unexcusable.

there is no way in heck I am going to stop and say "hey let's talk this out" while the other side is still intent on killing me.

That's your problem. I certainly would. Nothing is going to change if I don't try to communicate with them. The war will just keep going.

or even better

Maybe the Quarians did make a mistake in trying to shutdown all Geth. But think about it, can you honestly say you wouldn't react the same way if a machine started asking if it had a soul? I'd be pretty frightened.

The Geth are ultimately to blame though. They are sapient but they are still just machines. The deaths of a billion Quarians out weighs the deletion of a trillion Geth programs.

Putting value in life like that is very irresponsible.

The fact is, both sides are right, both sides are wrong.

And they're ALL idiots for not at LEAST sending messages to eachother, for going CENTURIES without trying to talk it out.

As I said. Things will have changed by the end of 3.

A living being with emotions > A walking talking toaster with a gun.

But yes, things will change in ME3.

That is an inherently rascist attitude. Similar thinking was used by English Slavers and ****'s to project that by being less than human, Jews and Africans were not truely living beings.

The fact is, the geth are alive. They are DIFFERENT. But they have the same intrinsic value as any human or quarian, as it is all defined as "life". While I agree with Legion's belief that all species are different and those differences are important, the fact that they are all alive, is not different.

At any rate, it will be interesting to see where Legion and Tali end up in 3...

@selflessness being a flaw:
Tali is a flawed character. She could not inspire loyalty in her squad on Freedom's Progress. She could not save herself from exile alone. She may have died had Shepard not shown up to fight Tali's attackers in the alley on the Citadel. She is the second most likely to die holding the line. Her view seems to be that the Quarians were not at fault for the Morning War. She has flaws, great flaws, and that's what I like the character.

I consider her selflesness a flaw. Tali should start doing things for herself, not just other people. That was part of her character evolution in her loyalty mission and her romance.

All these things are true.

It's actually what I like about her. She's not just some Mary Sue, but a heroine (who really does kick ass) who has personal family issues and social issues with her race.

Even if peace was negotiated between the geth and the quarians, all that history will leave serious friction between them. Mainly on the quarian side.

Well, Legion says that every time he tried to do that, he was shot at. When one side already sees you as a threat, things aren't going to soften up so easily.

Dear Creators.

We do not comprehend your actions during the Morning War. We are open to peaceful resolution. We wish to understand, and to nurture co-existance.

That's why the best possibility for peace is probably just the quarians getting Rannoch and the geth withdrawing to build their megastructure and contemplate in isolation.

Yeah, condoning genocide is a pretty big flaw.

There's genocide on the other side of that equation, too.

The geth let the quarians escape. They could have easily completely wiped all of them out and didn't. Sure, they did some pretty awful stuff too, but the quarians still want to wipe all of them out and don't see their reaction to the geth as being wrong in the first place where as the geth just want to be left the hell alone.

I'd want to wipe out the people who forced me to live inside a suit my whole life, stuck me inside a cubicle on a ship, and allowed for the galaxy to hate and despise me too.

Tali is right to be angry. The Geth are wrong in not trying to make contact with the quarians and working out a peace solution.

It's a good thing that's all changing...

its kinda hard to make peace with someone that  will not listen and constantly has their finger on the  trigger.  Sorry its just  hate to say this to because well I like you  but its  just  naive to think that  Quarians would entertain peace  during the Morning Star War. Hell even now  with  Quarians in the state  they are in THEY are trying to fight a war... They can not win.   The problem is that Quarians don't want peace if they did   Daro,, Han, Re'al would not have, been doing what they have been doing...

To put  simply the  Quarians have been living off the hatred of the Geth for so long that they  don't  know how to let go because with out it they would be lost... its Kinda like  Jack ...she can't let  Pragia  go because that hate is what keep her going  all these years.

I didn't really pick up on these as well, I'll admit.  I think my favorite characters are ones who are not only morally complex but have a bit of exaggeration to them to make them stand out.  This is why Mordin is my absolute favorite character in ME2.  He's damn fascinating to watch in action.  He stands out, and I really dig that.  Tali is definitely a favorite, but she's far more reserved compared to Mordin.  Guess I like my characters to be a bit larger-than-life :V

yes but individual geth are not sapient even Legion says they are the equivalent of a standard VI program, heck the geth probsbly write re-write and delete individual geth all the time its like a human losing some hair or or skin cells.
