The geth are machines, no sense in arguing otherwise. They are no alive, they can be broken, taken apart, rebuilt, and work along the lines of software. However, they are clearly articulate, they think for themselves, they react to outside events, the geth may even be developing emotions if you take into account some of Legion's reactions. When people try to compare geth to living beings, it does not work because the geth are machines.

They are that different, but does being different make them any less? Organic life is alien to them, they are unsure of how to approach because they are aware of their condition.

I get into Geth debates often. I purposely avoid getting into the definition of what is life. The real question is whether or not a synthetic can be viewed on the same level as an organic. To some people, a machine will always be a machine no matter how close it can simulate feelings or soul. I would not describe Geth as living as a human does, but I will still hold them on equal status as one.

I wish humans were all as understanding as the Real Geth are.

Would we still be human?

When we all finally understand each other like the Geth understand itself, will we still be human?

That is the question.

The greatest thought experiment on what is life is to take everything you describe as necessary for life and apply that to a virus which can be as simple as an RNA strand.

What is sapience will probably get you further in the debate.

in a way the superstructure actually will make the geth an individual as all of them will be sharing processes simultaneously in one body. One mind many parts, and now in a single vessel.

It all depends on interpretation. Your particular take, yes, would make the Geth an individual, rather than

Nah. Never got that interested. After Electric Sheep I kind of got into this phase where I started reading controversial books. Things that put the reader in a position to judge either the character or a species as a whole (E.G. A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess). After that, I kind of stopped reading for a while.
