It probably depends on where they want to go with the IP after ME3.  If they want to play around with different characters near the same timeframe, they may leave it vague.  Thus you could still run into the squaddies, (OR SHEPARD OMG) while playing the new story arc(s).

I forgave this because going in I knew ME was the start of a larger series, so while I didn't really like it, I didn't rage over it either.

Now if ME3 pulls that, someone is getting an angry letter. Filled with spit.

Or they could just dump us to a splash screen like in ME1.

Brilliant! They're leaving the ending up to the player's imagination SO MUCH that you don't get any kind of ending AT ALL!

I actually loved ME1's ending. Maybe the music made me overlook any flaws. Anyway - granted - as you imply, it was done in the way of leading up to a sequel. That won't fly for ME3. I want what happens to the galaxy not to be ambiguous. But with the LI, either we choose or it's vague. Preferably though - even if it's vague, I don't want something that is copy and paste. The vague epilogue should be specific to the love interest.

Thanks for the cake - still reading BtV.

As far as a wedding, I don't know... it really depends on how you play Shepard. Renegade/Earthborn/Ruthless paired with Jack? Never in a million years.

Sole Survivor/Colonist... could go either way. Could be afraid of commitment because of the potential of losing anyone close. Or, could want to form any possible attachment and hold them as close as possible as a means of replacing lost loved ones.

Spacer/War Hero... depends. Some career sailors never have families, at least never while they still go to sea. Others have a girl in every port. Still others have a full family at home waiting for them. I think the normalcy of this background gives the greatest potential for a "classic" wedding.

Tali I could see wanting to formally pair up, at least by the traditions of her own people, especially if you are together for a while.

Miranda wouldn't care, I don't think. I could see her enjoying the extravagance, though. Depending on how things shake out with The Illusive Man, Shepard and Miranda may need to lay low.

Jack... actually I really think Jack would go for it, especially if you pursued the paragon romance path. I don't see her in a white dress holding a bouquet, but I could see her smiling over a wedding certificate in some courthouse (or 2185 equivalent) waiting room. I think if she and (paragon) Shepard were together for a while, Jack would be open and appreciative of something normal.

XIII:  The Troubles of Greenmarsh

Having packed little food, given Lt. Alenko’s concern about the possibly adulterated nature of Dr. Newstead’s provisions, we were forced to dine at the tavern adjoining the inn. Inspector Vakarian remained in his room, consulting a small notebook he had brought with him, seeming elated at the discovery he had made. The other diners at the tavern, a thin crowd of the sorts likely to take their repast so cheaply, kept their distance to some degree. I was grateful for this, but concerned about the wide berth they seemed inclined to give to outsiders. Much of it, I felt, could be attributed to the natural reticence of country folk around strangers, which is the same the world over. However, there was a certain intensity to their fear and aversion which lead me to suspect rather more. Their barely concealed stares, laden with half-contained terror and mute accusation, made for poor dinnertime company. It seemed to put Miss Zorah completely off her appetite, for she ate little all evening despite the exertions of the day.

However, upon the departure of Lt. Alenko and the Cossack, leaving Miss Zorah, Miss Williams and myself to linger over our meals, a surprising change came over the rustic patrons. The serving girl, a sorry specimen with an unpleasantly receding chin and a cast in one eye, hurried to our table and warned us in a hushed whisper that we should flee while the Russians were gone. A nearby diner, brushing crumbs and other less definable debris from his beard to little effect, leaned over and seconded the advice in his nigh-incomprehensible Welsh accent. When I asked for explanation, I was answered by a veritable chorus of garbled exposition from the entire tavern, each person seeming to have been desperate to relay the terrible state of affairs.

I soon gathered that the Russian immigrants, all Cossacks fleeing extermination at the hands of the Bolsheviks, had arrived the previous year following a startling aerolitic display in the heavens that could not possibly be related, lead by a sinister gentleman. By their description, and there was no mistaking the old, poorly healed injuries described, this was none other than M. Arterius. Though the immigrants had been no trouble at first, hard times had come upon the town with their arrival. Judging from the babble, there was considerable resentment that the immigrants had installed their own curiously debased form of Christianity in the village church, though the villagers themselves had, as they termed it, “lettle truck wet’ churchgoang since the vicar passed.” Strange traffic began to plague the town, with “Mohammedans” arriving by both road and steam yacht, usually conveying packages of an indistinct nature to the Cossacks. Sometimes they would bring good, honest English or Continental visitors with them, though most of these were never seen to leave the village. Mindful of M. Arterius’ Turkish followers, I bade them go on.

Interesting idea. Seems to make sense. Tali does make a point about her wanting the relationship to be "real." Some kind of bond contract tradition among the Quarians may be part of that. But hey, we'll see. As long as the romance is given equal time and equal quality as the other ones, I'm good.

Tacking on to my thoughts on colonist/sole-survivor Shepard... I could see him trying to keep the team together, or at least keeping tabs on all of them long after the Reapers are defeated. That would be a natural extension of the fear he has of losing people. The team/LI become his replacement of his family and Alliance squad that he lost.

The few times I skimmed them, there seemed to be some that thought she'd embrace normalcy (with her own twist, of course).

I personally have not seen the discussion in the Jack thread. Perhaps this particular discussion had happened early when I did not frequent the thread. It does not seem to be discussed often.

It was actually appended to a discussion about motherhood and Jack.
