Zeal'Koris besides Shala Ra'an have the most sense out of all the Admirals and Zeal'Koris was acting more like a Father to her than her that Real EVER did. He didn't want to put her on trail but what choice did have her and her father where shipping Geth back to fleet.
They no matter how noble their intentions did something very very very stupid and very selfish. They put millions of the lives at risk, Zeal'Koris understood that fact. Yes his punishment was harsh but the when your actions carry such heavy consequences then the punishment must be harsh.

Rael also hasn't had a selfish impulse in his life (Tali gets it from somewhere, you know). Everything he did was for the fleet. Seriously, that's almost his entire characterization. Just because it was a bad idea doesn't change why he did it.

I always liked the idea of ancient Quarians being cheetah like hunters, but still herd animals.Tairis Deamhan wrote...
Oh and Calin I'm totally borrowing some of your quarian biology ideas for the primal Tali concept and savannah quarians for my next chapter.

Frighened animal in a suit? suit would take damage as well as the surrounding area as it tried to get out. Anyone trying to help would also get hurt. Small section in chapter 13 with Shala thinking about an incident on the citadel.Tairis Deamhan wrote...

Full agreement. Actually here's a question for you, if a quarian goes a little loopy IN the suit, what do you think would happen? Obviously scent triggers aren't going to do alot.

Ah thats were you have read between the lines...
Think about what he was doing. The construction of a weapon to battle the Geth so he could build his little girl a house on the homeworld. Well damn what father would not go that far for their daughter. Thats where it starts to back fire... hang tight with me this is going to a **** to put in words.
When one loves someone, one should be willing to sacrifice anything for said go to know lengths.
Thats where the selfish nature of his actions come to light. Did he stop and think would Tali want this house if it cost the lives of the entire fleet.? Would she want me to keep this promise if it cost me my life and lives of millions if something goes wrong?. These are the question he should have been asking himself when his plans formed.
Instead and sadly he was caught up in trying to making up for years that he let his work consume him. By giving his daughter something that they all dreamed off and he lost sight was important not the house on the homeworld but her. Maybe if he just sat and talked to her he would have realized that it was not a house she really wanted.. It was her father. That is the real tragedy of the whole incident.
The Selfishness comes in when you stop thinking about what the person wants get consumed by keeping your promise to them and the desire to keep it. It is a very easy pit to fall into.

Tali did nothing wrong. She was following lawful orders and shipping back inert components for what she assumed were static weapons testing.

Just to interject something here. It is NOT the hardware that make the geth but the programs running. If they were inactive or just pieces there would be no 'geth' there just mechanical parts.

She was wrong because by her sending the inactive parts back it enable him to make an active Geth.
Tali a smart girl you send enough inactive parts of geth back and you can make an active geth and given that the geth are software. A line of code here, a key line of ode there, have the programmers fill in whats missing. Come on these are Quarians give thats how the keep their whole fleet going.
If the those were Lawful orders... why was Real hiding the facts he was doing and why did she have to go through secret drops to get the parts back to fleet. And even if he did order her to do this explain his statement about the her not getting caught in political blow back. As told to send inactive parts back as a means to give her a way out because what he knew that if he was caught or something went wrong she was going in caught up in it as well.
Tali was also most likely sending Heretic Geth parts back to the Fleet. When those Geth were put back together, they must have been pissed to be in Quarian control.Someone With Mass wrote...

That's why the heretics are worshiping the Reapers.
They are only software. All it takes is just a few basic codes in the wrong place to change their view entirely.
