Likely?  I'd say about 99% guaranteed to impact.  Personally, I expect a complication from Daro'Xen, and the resolution to that helping to determine both if you get the quarians and the geth on your side.  Then, the epilogue will probably mention Rannoch.

But really, how much plot, and how important can it be to the greater picture given how either of those 2 characters (or both) might not be alive?

Ramifications.  Don't have them alive?  Don't get those factions.  Only have Tali?  Chances are you get an enslaved geth and the quarians (renegade) or justt eh quarians (paragon).  Only have Legion?  Get the geth, not the quarians.

I am hoping that who survives actually does have an impact on who you can recruit/how easy it is to fight the reapers before your final showdown with Harbinger.

EDIT:  Right now, you have the Krogan, and possibly Cerberus as allies.  Options?  The Citadel (having Garrus, Samara, and Mordin alive makes it easier?), Tali for the quarians, Legion for the geth, Thane for the drell/hanar, Jack to help with the Terminus/Aria.  Possibly the Rachni.

I would think that we will probably get 1 new crewmember in ME3.  Likely a batarian, as a representative for them as well as the Terminus systems.

Note, I don't expect Zaeed or Kasumi to return.  So their "spots" would get filled by the Virmire Survivor and the above mentioned batarian.

Funny... that's how I thought ME2 would open... with the old team saving Shepard from Cerberus after him dissapearing...

Tali: Nothing.
Cheesecake: Now if you'll excuse me Shepard I really must get back home.
Shepard: But why?
Cheesecake: I've got a Rebellion to crush, an empire to reistablish and a pizza about to be delivered I'm out!
*Tali looks at the camera gives a thumbs up*
Tali: Okay Bosh'tets time to go outside and get some sunshine!

The idea of squadmates having an impact on 3 is something I like. Peace with the geth is only possible if both Tali and Legion are alive and loyal. Mordin, Grunt, and Wrex are all needed to restore the Krogan to their role as honorable warriors and peacekeepers. Ect.

Too bad that they scraped that plan about the player being Legion helping Liara to locate Shepard. That would've been awesome.

Sounds good. Would keep the whole "killing squadmates because the player is simply paranoid" thing at a minimum, too.

I have been wondering, why the only option with the genophage is to either cure it fully, or keep it.  Mordin did already alter it once, so why not do it again? If the krogan do possess a threat to the galaxy with their normal birth rate, why not change it into a 1/250, instead of 1/1000? Or fully cure it.
