Strangely, I'm inclined to be forgiving in that instance because:

And I'm sorry, but I can't condone racial slurs like that, even over a woman.

I'd be willing to forgive all of that, if it wasn't for everything else about him that pisses me off...

The whole "I joined Cerberus, because they're the only ones doing something" speech is good enough for me to hate them.

I mean, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see all the wrong things Cerberus are willing to do.

And for what? To give humanity more power over other races?

I'd have jacked the dude in the gut if possible, I don't let ANYONE talk bad about Garrus or Tali. Even when Grunt (whom I like) says his "I get it now. I hate turians!" I always respond with that line about how he damn well better not start **** with Garrus.

To TEAR IT DOWN FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

As for why they want to dominate all aliens? Who knows? Fear, I think. The Illusive Man is a coward who hides how he hides. He's afraid to do things himself, unlike Saren. He's afraid of change. Afraid of things he doesn't understand, like aliens. It's his fear that has made him what he is.

That's okay. Cowards scream the loudest when you finally corner them... I know that one from experience...

Here's my question:
Why?

Because Humanity is the force of change in a universe long stagnant.  It took the actions of a lone human to thwart the Reapers (twice now).  It took the actions of a human group to revive that lone human, so that he could finish what he started.

Economically, Humanity has been shown to be the only race willing to take the risks neccessary for further expansion, specifically their colonial development so close to the Terminus Systems.

Third, in a few short years Humanity has accomplished what other races have taken centuries to do.  Humanity has an embassy, a spectre, a seat on the council.

Humanity seems to be the only race capable of projecting the galaxy into a second golden age of quick advancement and expansion.

I don't like putting words on what I am.

I'm sure I wouldn't like the ones people would associate with me anyway.

I am what I am. Giving it more of a meaning than that is like holding up a mirror, and I can't say I like the view.

Oooh, there was this quote that I've heard from Firefly about a man who said that you can really get to know your "best friend" if you put him in a tight spot, like...holding him over the edge of a volcano.
