well... taking into account that soverign and his far inferior fleet of geth lackeys destroyed most of the fleet guarding the citadel and sov. was only killed when shep "reversed the polarity" of his shields by killing his saren avatar, i cant see much hope in the galaxy defending against at least hundreds of reapers seen at the end of ME2 without a LLRRUDUDAB code of his own which may just ****** me off.Phil725 wrote...

i'd personally be very receptive to a plotline where we realize the reapers cannot be defeated and the cycle continues indefinately. i mean its happened at least hundreds of times before, the only thing that makes humanity special in any story we write it is the fact we wrote it and thus always win. also i'd like to know if its just our galaxy the reapers f*ck with or all of the billions of others in the universe.
I disagree with the only thing different being the narrator. The reapers always win because they cheat. Societies throughout history depended on the mass relays and the Citadel, and the reapers take those things away before the war starts. Its like an enemy taking away all of your weapons, killing your generals, and then declaring war on you. The ME races won't have to deal with that handicap. They will maintain the ability to coordinate and organized resistance, and make the reapers fight a fair fight for the first time ever. That's why they have the best chance of anyone to live (thanks protheans)
Also, assuming Shep gets the people ready before the reapers actually get here, that's another bonus, no one in the past had an advanced warning, and a headstart in the defence effort.
Hey i don't want any Evangelion like endings in my Mass Effect the ending of that series was mind bending enough. The Big epic space battle nis ot going to the key to beating the Reapers.. Sorry kiddies if we try to fight them head up we'll lose every time hands down. There is no way they can build the ships needed for that battle in that short amount of time. It took an entire fleet to take down one and He was not the most powerful. Nope we got figure A. What the Reapers Really are because there not giant flying space squid of doom.. B. Once we do that then we can do, what we do best... Kill em. But throwing ships and fleets at them is going be to like throwing beeps a freight train... good luck with that.

I've been distracted trying to figure out what the hell happened to my internets.
But I am working now.
About... halfway through, I think.
Just getting to the bad part.

I just want to point out something here, the battle was not one on one with Sovereign. It was Sovereign and a gigantic fleet of small and maneuverable geth ships that were on par with the council armies. The majority of the losses weren't created by Sovereign himself, he did hardly anything. The only thing the battle proves is that the geth could be a very serious galactic threat if they wanted to be.
The Thanix cannon is a step in the right direction as far as anti-reaper weaponry is concerned, they need to continue working on weapons that can stop the reapers, because as we've seen, they aren't invincible.

*Shepard fastens the magnetic clasps of his Blood Dragon armor, Tali smiling under her helmet as the two prepare for the next mission.*
Tali: You know... Quarians had knights.
*Shepard turns to her before he place the helmet on his head, a smirk crossing his face and genuine interest in his tone.*
Shepard: Really?
Tali: Mmhm... They wore armor, traveled Rannoch, did great deeds, slew dragons...
*Shepard smiles as he walks over to Tali, his hand finding hers.*
Shepard: And did they woo maidens?
*Tali suppresses a giggle.*
Tali: Some. Those maidens would often give them a token, as well.
*Tali produces as long strip of cloth that matches the one wrapped around her suit, tieing it around his arm. Shepard smiles as he looks at the cloth, planting a kiss on the light of her voice modulator and bowing his head before fastening his helmet to his armor.*
Shepard: M'lady...
