Mostly I think people are ignoring an important details:
Tactical ability. The Reapers don't seem to have any. Sovereign just bludgeoned through the Citadel fleet and got pounded, zapping whatever was around him. Harbinger was in charge of the Collector's but again it was just one big ship. When someone finally got the drop on it Normandy was able to wreck its day.
It seems the Reapers have become so used to their pattern they have never needed to develop tactical brilliance. They rely on surprise and superior technology, throwing the galaxy into chaos so an organized threat can't be brought against them. Virgil even said this: They are powerful, but even Sovereign could not stand against a fleet.
Once the Reaper lost its shields, a single torpedo from the Normandy was able to do catastrophic damage. Humans are also stated to have pioneered the fighter carrier. A fast strike with a large amount of small craft (Normandy-class frigates, fighters) could cause disruption in formations and chaos, followed by a hammer blow from extremely up-gunned cruisers, with dreadnaughts held in reserve as 'line breakers'.
Edit: And actually if they just do the 'swarm' tactic as we see them descending on the galactic plane, that would be ideal for the allied fleet. Send smaller ships into the midst of them, they risk critically damaging each other as ME has already gone out of its way to point out one of the details of space combat: If you shoot and miss, whatever you shot AT the enemy keeps going until it does hit something.
