anybody ever wonder just how fast ME's FTL travel is? that is between relays of course because theyre said to be pretty much instantaneous. its gottaq be really f*cking fast because when you pick up thane he has on the order of months to live by his analysis but you can fly all over the galaxy (with just story missions) and he's fine. also wherever you are you can still get to the plot missions fast enough they're still going on like horizon or getting to the collector ship before the turians.

I'll be damned to hell for the second time if I let this happen, Shepard thought to himself as he listened to the admirals over the speaker as he and Tali returned to the fleet. Sharing a glance with his companions, he sped up and punched the interface on the door.

Not waiting for it to open completely, he stormed into the meeting square. The quarians near the door who saw his entrance murmured to each other and a path quickly opened. None would stand before him; the commander's biotic field was flickering around him erratically as he rushed to the admiralty board.

Tali and Garrus shared a glance. It was unusual for Shepard to get this worked up. They reached the square, and Shepard stalked up to the podium. Tali matched his stride and walked with him up to the podium as Garrus took a seat on the stairs to watch the fireworks.

"Sorry we're late...."

"Have you seen him this worked up before?" She asked the turian after the trial. Shepard was up in the cockpit of the shuttle, discussing something with Miranda as they returned to the Normandy.

Garrus nodded. "Once or twice. Remember when you got knocked unconscious by a pirate sniper on Klensal? When we were approaching the pirate base?"

"Yes, I remember getting hit, then waking up in the infirmary."

"Well, you missed all of the fun on the ground," he stated with more than a touch of sarcasm. "Shepard evac'd you, then brought me and Wrex back down to the planet. During the drop, his biotics were flickering like that."

Garrus paused, before continuing, "When we got to the base, he used the Mako to take out the towers. Then, he blew the doors to the base open." Tali's eyes widened; that was overkill, and something she couldn't picture her commander doing. The turian wasn't done with his story though.

"Shepard told me to snip anyone that was disabled," Garrus said with a chuckle. "Then he and Wrex ran in, and used their biotics to lift or knock down every single mercenary they saw. It was a shooting gallery for me."

Tali shook her head. "That was reckless."

"You have no idea," the turian agreed. "Shepard just stood there, out in the open. It was surreal; I think the pirates were actually more afraid of him than they were of the krogan. He didn't calm down until all the merc's were dead."

"After we got back, he checked on you after setting a course for the other location that human on the Citadel told him about. Once Chakwas told him you were ok, he calmed down," Garrus finished.

"Really?" She asked. The turian nodded. "I remember I was surprised when he took Ashley and Wrex with him instead of anyone else."

"Well, I was exhausted," Garrus replied. "That, and he told me to keep an eye on you." He nodded an affirmation when the quarian just stared at him.

Her gaze turned to the cockpit speculatively. He cared that much, even back then? she thought to herself. I should tell him...no, stop being selfish, she reprimanded herself. It was just the same concern he gave everyone...

But try as she might, a small flicker of warmth erupted in her chest. Her commander cared; truly cared. It might have been an unrealistic dream, but Tali spent the rest of the trip thinking on her commander, and everything she longed to tell him but did not dare speak.

If only...

Well, if one lightyear is 9,460,730,472,580.8 kilometers, and there are, let's say 254 lightyears between Illium and The Citadel(pulling that number out of my ass), and their ships can travel over the speed of light, then...you have a math problem that I don't feel like solving right now.

I thought I saw a reference somewhere, but it might have been in a FF.  I don't think it specifically says in any of the Codex entries, and the only concrete reference we have is that it takes "two hours" to reach the Omega-4 relay from wherever you are at the time you launch the suicide mission (which could be ANYWHERE in the galaxy...).

So, (as expected) FTL in ME travels at the "speed of plot".

The word is cliche, its a common occurance in situations like these.  That doesn't inherently make it bad though.  My preferred way that things would happen would be that Shepard was able to actually start the relationship in ME1, but that isn't an option, so I go with the next best thing.

Shep thinks that a relationship could never happen because she's a completely different species, she would never like him the same way, plus she's going to be leaving in a few weeks, he shouldn't be putting her in that position.  Tali on the other hand, thinks that he would never like her as more than a friend, and thinks that it would be selfish for her to want to be with him while there are others who could give him more in a relationship.  That said, the two have definite chemistry, and the way they act together makes it almost obvious to everyone around that they have feelings for each other.  Shep feels no need to start a relationship with Ashley or Liara, because he doesn't feel strongly about them, those feelings are somewhere else.

Finally, right when they were both about to finally confess their feelings for each other, collector cock block :pinched:

I like that version a lot more than Shep didn't notice Tali and banged Liara to get some alien tail before a mission <_<

Well, seeing as I dislike the Liara romance intensely, I think it a little differently.  Personally, I absolutely loved the Ashley romance.  However, a Paragon would likely not cheat.  Especially with the email sent by Ashley - it leaves it too open regarding bother her feelings and the possibility of a relationship.  Hence why I have two playthroughs, one with Ash and the other with Tali.

If I could actually play renegade (and not just to see how it plays out), I could see it.  But not as a Paragon.

Well, there will be humor and laughter. Pretty sure there will be hugs. Friendship? Definitely. Sense of family, I don't know. Warm moments is what Tali is for. Same with encouraging words. Love and romance? It's Mass Effect, duh...

I bet there will be drama. Won't be much tension otherwise when the Reapers shows up. Suffering? Sure. I hope not, but probabbly.

in defense of my people, our reproductive system has been "replaced by tech" so we really don't understand the massive severity of the blocking of a bro's cock.

Edit: shepard had reach and liara had flexibility. the turians know where its at.

Well, If it is Liara as the triangle, expect some "You brought me to this Shepard!" reactions.  And having to decide between love interests will likely also determine how far Liara will truly fall.

Oh, and This Song is perfect for the thoughts on a love triangle in ME 3.
