*a few minutes later... back in engineering...*

*Shepard passes by Ken and Gabby holding a mangled set of bolt cutters and  in his hands. A furious look on his face is tinged by a slight grimace as he stomps through--a slight limp in his gait*

Ken: Oh hey Commander, Tali was just here a--
Shepard: do we have anything that can cut through Quarian-made palladium-reinforced suit straps?
Ken: ... I think Tali's custom plasma cutter could do it *points to desk* but why--
Gabby: *punches Ken in the shoulder, a sly smile etched into her face*
Ken: What was that for-- ohhh... I... see... well... Commander, I'll let you get back to work then...

*Shepard leaves with the small cutting tool--a pained smile on his face as he limps to the door*

Oh my. Limping was the icing on the cake. Haven't laughed this hard in a while.

*about 15 minutes later... in engineering*
*a low hum is heard as the auto-open mechanism on the door behind Ken and Gabby shuts off. A small, three fingered hand prys the door open slightly. Tali pokes her head in to reveal several burn marks on her hood, some of the places are still emanating smoke.*

Gabby: *turning around with a worried look on her face* Tali!? what happened?
Tali: I-uh... well I--we--no um... Gabby?
Gabby: yes Tali?
Tali: can you put this on my desk? *hands out a blackened and charred plasma cutter*
Gabby: sure *takes cutter* why don't you come in and sit for a while... rest some?
Tali: *rambling* I would but I'm busy and this door is broken and there's so much to do--I
Ken: oh well I can fix the door...

*Ken types a few commands on his omni-tool. Tali's eyes open widely in fear. the door slides open to reveal Shepard behind the door, also covered in burns. He is hunched over at an awkward angle with his is hand is caught and tangled in Tali's belt*

*Ken and Gabby try to supress their laughter. the strange scene is interrupted by a familiar voice*

EDI: Commander, I detect that you require assistance...

*Tali's belt beeps and unclasps causing Shepard to stumble backward and tumble down the stairs*

Jack: WHAT THE!?!?
