We know from ME2 that Cerberus protocol is to have a cyanide capsule replace a tooth, or something like that. If we do actually have a chance to take down TIM (unlikely the way I see it,) there's really no reason he wouldn't just end it himself when all was lost.

No. TIM is not going to pull a Saren on me. I won't allow it.
There's a difference between the two. Saren was forced to do what he did because of the indoctrination, while TIM had full control over his actions.

I don't recall any quotes specifically mentioning his arrogance, nothing that makes me believe he thinks he's untouchable. His practice of hiding in a random place and not meeting Shep face to face shows that he's taking precautions. Its not like having an out clause would be anything aside from smart. If he's captured, he'll be tortured to hell and back for information, and he knows it. I know people hate TIM around here, but he's not dumb. Its a no risk high reward thing.
